Developer Draw Distance has announced its 2017 title Serial Cleaner has more than one million owners across the world. The title was published on consoles by Curve Digital and is now available on PC/Mac, Linux, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. East2west Network Tech was in charge of publishing the title for iOS users.

Serial Cleaner was previously included as a free game for Twitch Prime subscribers and bundled in Humble Monthly (now Humble Choice), plus the Curve Digital Humble Bundle. Limited Run released a physical edition on the PS4 in September 2019.

Serial Cleaner is a story-driven, fast-paced stealth/action game with a 1970s theme. Players are in charge of cleaning up murder scenes, so the alleged criminal isn’t caught. The protagonist has to dispose of the evidence, clean up any bloodstains, and hide the murder weapons.

The cleaning process is much more difficult than it appears. Players have to work fast and make quick decisions. Crime scenes will quickly become swarmed with police and bystanders who will make the Cleaner’s job more difficult. There are several “enemies” that offer various challenges.

The game adds some complexity by using real-world data to modify gameplay according to the player’s location. There are multiple game modes as well to keep the experience interesting. Serial Cleaner boasts 20 main story campaign levels plus ten added missions inspired by 70s films.

While the game has some dark themes, it’s told with humor. The atmosphere is inspired by the Fango series and the popular film Pulp Fiction.

Regarding the one million milestones, Draw Distance CEO Michal Mielcarek stated:

We are pleased to announce that our original project – Serial Cleaner, a game where the plot, theme, dynamic action and original graphic style really count, has exceeded one million owners on all platforms. It shows that there are alternatives to the classic methods of distributing games and we can make good use of them.

Draw Distance previously developed such titles as Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York, Ritual: Crown of Horns, and other multiplatform games.

Serial Cleaner is available now on PC/Mac, Linux, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and iOS.
