The Drop Announcement was indeed a major Nintendo announcement where it was stated Drag x Drive will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 14, with eShop having exclusivity. This has created excitement in the gaming world, while on the flip side, it is a bit meh.
First things first: Drag x Drive is, well, apparently a new racing game (or so the trailer suggested) for the Switch 2. And without a physical, there is only digital. It is about to be up for pre-order. But really, who would buy this?
The Nintendo tweet got bombarded with somewhat conflicting vibes. Some gamers were, in fact, glad to see it, appreciating the $20 price, stating, “Finally a game that seems worth the price,” while others like @AdamLsEnt laid down: “They should pay people to play this.” Ouch.
Then dived into the question of whether this game even needs to exist. People did not hold back; @raginbolt put it out there, “Sorry but no one really cares about this one.” And @WhoNotFound0 was probably more excited about Donkey Kong, which is fair.
Well, not all views are negative on the subject. Some players tried the demo, with @solace778 stating, “The demo was a lot of fun,” standing up for the game against detractors; on the other hand, @CosmicMcRad was saying, “For $20, it’s at least better than paying $60 for Mario Party except literally all the fun is removed.”
Then, the whole… wheelchair thing? It kind of looks like there is some Joy-Con motion going on here with those controls, kind of like maneuvering a wheelchair, according to @solace778. Which… okay? That choice.
That classic Nintendo conversation, of course: “Where’s the physical version, though?” @Lhjc_50 and @NintendoNewsNe3 wanted a boxed copy, but no, digital-only, for now.
So this is the verdict: drag x Drive is coming whether you want it or not. Some are into it; others think it’s a waste of 20 bucks. And some are simply confused about the whole wheelchair metaphor. Whichever way it goes, August 14 will be the day that either brings death and dismay or a happy surprise.
Pre-orders are live now; maybe wait out for some reviews before you go and hit buy—unless you’re really into… whatever this is.
