So, Dr. Disrespect had only to drop one tweet, and everything exploded from there. By everyone, I mean every single Call of Duty fan is super hyped or super mad. There’s no middle ground for this guy.
The tweet read, “Yoooooo! New Black Ops 7 looks turnt lil bro. Drops ON with early access codes. Just Like/RT. Cmon bro, tap in. Dis hard tho!🔥” followed by some hashtag materials like #drops:onlilbro and #betacodes, and so on. In essence, The Doc is telling that the new Call of Duty Black Ops 7 looks mad sick and there’s early access goodies coming, but the replies… they’ve been something else.
To start with concrete facts: Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is indeed a coming thing, and Dr Disrespect seems to have gotten into a phase of early viewing or perhaps access codes to share. The way he’s speaking in an uber hypes streamer slang – turnt, lil bro, tap in – it’s definitely for the younger gaming crowd that just starving for this kind of info. Yet, many don’t seem to be buying what he’s selling.
There’s been quite… let’s say mixed reaction from the community. Like, really divided. You got people like JRon saying, “Shit is lit doc,” and phairzy calling him “the goat” and saying “never change.” Then you have the other half, roasting the game, and roasting the Doc. Twangers89 straight-up said, “How much you getting paid? Game looks fucking ass cheeks bro” – that’s some straight-up feedback if you ask me.
Then comes the… other level, involving a lot of people in the replies mentioning that whole situation with the underage stuff. ComradeDedo asked, “Is this the dude that’s into underage girls?” while slimebubbles asked, “How you be texting those teenage girls,” and sadboyhmk added, “Well, Doc loves 13 year olds so that checks out!” So yeah, that whole controversy will continentally be part of the conversation wherever Dr Disrespect tweets, even when it’s just him trying to hype up a new game.
What’s funny is that many people are just done with Call of Duty in general. ElSenorTweetero said “BO7? Miss me with that trash” and utavo97 followed, “FUCK BO7 BATTLEFIELD AWAITS,” which… okay, I guess. Looks like the Battlefield versus Call of Duty feud thing is back. Cmccow11 had probably the nastiest comeback: “Being 43 and still believing Call of Duty is good is the equivalent of being 13 and believing in the Easter Bunny.” Ouch!
Then comes more drama in the replies. People argue with each other in the comments, for instance, with PaulUhsul and Racager_ doing that back-and-forth on… Something about Charlie Kirk? Then timthetatman just tweeted, “WHAT IS THIS @CALLOFDUTY,” and attached media; well, judging from the data, we really can’t tell. Probably just a crying out for help about the game.
But what stands out is how many members of the community might just be tired of the whole Call of Duty cycle. Torq_Intel, aired in views on the current state of the game, said, “It’s crazy!! I’m glad the community is standing up and saying it this year. 4 years of neglect!!” So, a clear sentiment in there says that Call of Duty has been dropping the ball for quite a while now and people aren’t just automatically hyped because it is a Black Ops game.
Even the general Dr Disrespect crowd seems to be torn on this. deth_you commented, “Doc, the multiplayer looks pretty decent. Warzone, who knows how that’s going to go,” so maybe they’d actually seen some gameplay and were cautiously optimistic but not sold yet. And Seruteusu_35P commented, “That is NOT the vest Doc,” which I really don’t know about, but sounds like he was bagging on his official look?
The single locus of intersection for the Call of Duty community has become very clear. Die-hard fans who’d buy anything with the Call of Duty tag on it. People who once held to love the series but started feeling it had gone downhill. People who finished with it on their own. Then there is Dr Disrespect, in the mediascape, trying to hype up everybody, much overshadowed by his…colored reputation.
The early-access code thing is an interesting way to create a buzz and get people talking about something. The “like it and retweet it for a chance to win” thing is pretty much standard influencer marketing, but with someone as infamous as Dr Disrespect running it, the explosions have been…chaotic, at best.
The real wildcard is whether or not Black Ops 7 is good, and no one really knows yet. Gameplay isn’t even out there for most folks, so it’s all just speculation on everybody’s behalf from observers selected few who’ve seen it. Of course, you can imagine how much harder it makes it discern from a truth after early impressions coming from one who apparently is… slopey.
This game is brand new; this means and discourse is already heated. If this is what pre-hype looks like, the actual release is going to be a riot. Whether or not that’s good or bad for Call of Duty… well, isn’t that the question at hand. The community can’t seem to settle on this matter, and Dr Disrespect’s tweet even more likely just poured gallons of gasoline on that fire.
So yeah, Black Ops 7 is coming; Dr Disrespect is hyping it; the gaming community is feeling all kinds of feelings about it. Some ready to pre-order immediately; some calling it dead on arrival; and the rest are arguing in the comments about everything, from the quality of the game to… well, other things. Another typical day in the Call of Duty world, especially for PlayStation and Xbox fans.
