All DOOM fans, come here!! Check this out-someone has actually gone and released new HD concept art for the Super Shotgun, just chef’s kiss! The tweet does not give a context, does not tag any developers-nothing but gun porn. And you know what? We aren’t even mad.
The image linked in the tweet shows the Full-on Super Shotgun: chunky, brutish, ready to turn a demon into vapor with the pull of a trigger. This artsy design screams DOOM classics: industrial, no-frills, probably reeking of gun smoke and hell fire. This art gives nothing but a heavy-duty tool for maximum killing.
And now, here’s where the speculating begins—no one is saying why this art surfaced. Perhaps it was an early design that ended up on the cutting-room floor for DOOM Eternal? Maybe an artist’s private demo?
Not a whole lot from response to the tweet, leaving us to just theorize. Maybe id is working on some DLC. Or maybe not. Or maybe this is a tease for… something else. (Don’t toy with my heart; this is the DOOM 3 talk here.)
Indeed, just as a fun fact, Super Shotgun has been the GOAT from DOOM 2 on. The one you really wish you had when the zombies arrive in the real world. And that small bit of concept art is a tribute to that legacy.
The details are just mad-scratches all over the barrel, wear on the grip, and even the way the shells are just resting in the chamber as if they’re dying to be fired.
So yeah, definitely under the heading “mysterious but cool.” If you’re a true DOOM believer, spend ten minutes looking at the art, just like us. And if you aren’t? Well, now you know what perfection looks like.
