The screenshots for DOOM: The Dark Ages dropped by NVIDIA are enough to make gamers’ jaws hit the floor. They showcase native ray tracing, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex-you-were-gonna-die-tech-words-that-make-hardened-PC-players-drool. And, like always, there have been divergent sides split between outright hype, a level of skepticism, and outright demands for more.

For one thing, these indeed look insane for a screenshot. We’re talking next-level lights, shadows having some sort of real presence, and that DLSS magic that makes the game smoother yet better to watch. NVIDIA credits @JohneeCA for the footage on Twitter, but if you want to talk real entertainment, check out the replies.

Some people are literally asking for path tracing right now!-@Fieldbaker pretty much nails it with a straightforward “When path tracing?” while @Embroyonicend_ adds, “Still waiting for the path tracing update.” It’s pretty clear that, no matter how good ray tracing is, some people will not be satisfied until full path tracing is implemented.”

And then there’s the sarcasm; @JustDeeevin shoots back: “Ah yes check out the multi frame generation in these still screenshots. God, get a clue.” Ouch! But, can you really blame them? It’s like bragging about how fast your car is…while it’s currently parked.

Performance has all the rage as well. @RoniinZoro isn’t down voicing their angst about the visuals: “When is the patch where I can play the actual game and not get a crash or freeze every 5-10 minutes?” Surely, their word. Give me all the fancy lighting in the world, and it’s not going to matter if the game keeps face-planting mid-demon-slaying.

Then comes the classic AMD versus NVIDIA argument. @YuukoEnjoyer shades: “While DLSS is great I really hope you focus on improving raw performance too instead of only focusing on DLSS on your next cards. My money’s going to AMD right now.” Oof. Yeah, NVIDIA’s tech is shiny and bright, but if the other guy’s got better value, loyalty’s only gonna get you so far.

Not everyone is salty. @Past_Experience is just hyped: “Loved how Doom looked in the past 2 games, really looking forward to playing Eternal.” And @Reloaded356 keeps it basic with emoji chaos: “๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ”ซ๐Ÿ›ก๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐Ÿ’ฅDemon bashing fun๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿค˜.”

The real question on everybody’s mind is that patch. @ewt3we12 says it simply: “So when is the patch?” Pure no filler. Meanwhile, @ObrienKade is starting to feel a little sour over the screenshots failing to do that iconic “skull-faced Doom guy” any justice. Priorities, folks.

At the end of the day, DOOM: The Dark Ages seems poised to be an absolute visual powerhouse-if the art works as advertised. NVIDIA is pushing the envelope, and gamers now watch closely, ready to tear down anyone who fumbles. Whether it’s about path tracing dreams, performance gripes, or pure hype, one thing for sure, DOOM fans still have hearts. Now, about that patch…
