The overrated Mother’s Blessing event of Diablo IV, orchestrated by the folks at Blizzard, is nearing its conclusion, and the viewers were greatly displeased. Intended as a bait to release players back into the world for bonus XP and gold on the side of Whisper Caches, the community was quite volatile against it. It has been called by many – lazy, repetitive, and almost bordering on boring.

The official Diablo Twitter account had bid on players to “grow your power, wanderer” before the event finished, but the reply section was abuzz with grumblings about the event. Players went on to accuse it of having no content really, stale progress, feels like another stale gimmick rather than an actual experience. One player was forthright: “@Wrench_Turner74: Mother’s Blessing isn’t an event. Never was. It’s pure laziness.”

This disgust found a chorus of agreement with @Pie_Prime69 lamenting that the grind was “awful” and the mechanics clunky on the console. However, the sarcastic @fftactics98 mocked the result of logging in, leveling, then uninstalling till the next season. Even the veterans, like @babilungs, were loud with their disappointment: “You’ve ruined the game, go back to how it used to be.”

The timing also raised questions. With the current season ending in one or two weeks time, what is the incentive to log in now? asked @TommyWierper. While @ThePollus demanded Blizzard to make logging worthwhile since the game wasn’t engaging enough at present.

Some even took to comparing Diablo IV unfavorably to its mobile sibling Diablo Immortal, with @WREKTYRANGOVJ4F stating outright, “Diablo Immortal is a way better game imo.” Others, such as @schism1125, laughed along and said the actual message Blizzard was sending was, “Definitely DON’T play POE 3.26,” alluding that Path of Exile’s recent update is a more appealing option.

There were a few dissenting voices that suggested or hoped for an extension (@shyguytaee) or look ahead to improvements (@TripleAndyGames), but 99% of the population simply could not bear the same old vanilla grind any longer.

Blizzard has yet to comment since the criticism started, and with the player retention in Diablo IV being an obvious problem, they might just have to rethink their approach. More engaging seasonal content, bigger expansions, or all-out reworks-the big question remains. For now, at least, Mother’s Blessing stays etched in memory as a disappointment.

That said, if you wanted to frost those last-minute applauds…maybe just don’t. The players have spoken, and they weren’t impressed.
