The latest installment of This Week In Destiny 2 (or TWID, if you’d shorten it again) has dropped, and, well, let’s just say that players aren’t quite showering Bungie with confetti yet. The big stuff? Eva Levante is for Solstice (because she just had to be), a few tweaks for The Portal, and a security update that definitely won’t stop any hacker, but it’s better than nothing, right?
So, the good stuff first. Eva Levante returning to Solstice is just like that aunt that comes around for every holiday telling the exact same stories about Carlos and Maria. The players either indulge in the nostalgia or just want her to get down with some new dialogues after 500 times. Emperor1080 took the knife out: “Yup and her every single time talking about Carlos and Maria for years now 😂.” Classic Eva. Never change.
Some hate the Portal updates. TheCyberFLASH notes, “It’s nice not having to load up Tower.” Others find them “lame.” FreeFall’s response was basically “So nothing new 🤷.” Now, that’s cold.
On to the real issue: the player reactions. Oh, man, the game is really heating up. Steve1820780 just went ballistic: “Deleted this game a week ago. You don’t care, so why should I? Sony needs to clean house on this failure of a studio.” Paracausal added: “No one cares. Let Sony take over this failing studio completely.” Somebody give these two a Snickers.
Then the complaints about power progression start. CrazyFerrett hates seasonal resets: “All the stuff you worked for just goes away. Hate it.” On the other hand, ZombaitX took it to Shakespearian levels: “What an absurd statement! That’s a bit like a serial killer saying he’s still thinking about how he can act more kindly.” Damn. Tell us how you really feel.
Here come the sour attitudes now. BadgerRustler called it a “Good twid, good proposed changes, good seasonal event.”^1A rare word of praise in a sea of cynicism.
That is when you go into weird mode. Like ProMerica1776 demanding the Sagira ghost shell quest to be returned (random request but okay). Then there’s some lively chatter between NovaNOVAnova85 and TheCyberFLASH about whether the Shooting Range belongs at the Farm or at the Tower. Deep lore debates, folks.
Oh, and DestinyDaveGuy has an urgent question: “Make me understand why it’s more lucrative to run solo ops than the new raid.” Bungie, please.
There’s a verdict, though. Mixed. Very much mixed. Some are loving the Solstice vibes, and others can’t wait to throw their consoles out of the nearest window. Are the updates going to make the difference? Who knows. All we know for sure is that the Destiny twins will always be loud and proud about their opinions.
So, for now, trot out your Solstice gear, ignore Eva’s stories on Carlos, and hopefully, the next TWID will not send the entire community into a spiral. Or maybe it will. Because, hey, who doesn’t love a bit of chaos?
