Bungie has released their weekly update ‘This Week in Destiny’, and the reactions from the community are very diverse. The Vanguard Alerts is the most significant point of the update, which will be part of the Destiny 2: Renegades expansion, but players have skipped this entirely and are just screaming: BRING BACK OLD STUFF. The comments section is flooded with nostalgia and you can almost feel the eruption of emotions at any moment.
Now let’s take a closer look at the update. To begin with, there are some specifics related to the Equilibrium Dungeon race on December 13th, some updates on Call to Arms, the return of Bungie Bounty for Good next Monday, and the Vanguard Alerts event. So what are Vanguard Alerts actually? The post does not clarify much; however, it seems like a new playlist or way to go through very old or even vaulted content. At this moment, players went completely crazy.
The replies to the tweet from DestinyTheGame immediately started to compile a huge list of things that players want from the Destiny Content Vault. It seems as if the entire players’ community has recalled all activities that were removed and decided to TELL THE DEVS that the time has come for them to be BACK. User The Jman asked in such a simple manner: “Any of the missions from The Red War campaign,” which, hello, that’s the original campaign we lost years ago—the whole thing. That’s one bold request.
But it didn’t stop there. Not by a long shot. The user ‘J’ offered a whole list of quests: “Savathuns song, will of the thousands, nokris strike, bond brothers, menagerie.” And Jdog_TheFenrir just started to chant “SAVATHUNS SONG SAVATHUNS SONG!!!” with a lot of emojis. The obsession with that one particular strike is… exceptionally strong. You might assume that it is something of divine nature where one is coming back or something.
Then, the requests became more and more detailed and crazy. SynerG12 almost asked for the entire DCV, plus: “All forges, Menagerie, Wrath of the Machine, All Leviathan raids, all the old raids and dungeons from pre-EoF, Scourge, Sundial, literally everything in the DCV.” Just allow the full game to be the game again, dude. Then, MangoCAD had a vibe that was almost identical, asking for old raids, Menagerie, Sundial, and Reckoning. It is apparent that there is a huge demand for the activities of the season that were overlooked.
However, not everybody is happy about the way Bungie is treating the situation. Ronny Summers was a bit hot-headed and shouted “More Menus, More Portal, More Resources, More Time. Why is Bungie wasting their resources and time to keep the Portal going when NO ONE wants it like stop adding things and putting time into things BUNGIE KNOWS NOBODY WANTS.” Ouch. That was brutal. Undead Munchies seemed to be in the dark and put it this way: “I struggling to understand how this isn’t just the same stuff on yet another screen.” By this comment, one can tell that there is a gamer segment that really thinks the new UI is just another layer of clutter.
Conversely, there are gamers with quite the opposite issues. An entire thread between Sinnux and Separer was just them pillow talking about why Sinnux was the one with two restrictions in one year, with Sinnux sharing, “I just want to know why I’ve gotten 2 in one year only nine months apart. And during this week too when I want my rewards.” That is a whole other Bungie mystery that we might never solve.
And then… there were the demands of a different nature. monty pontius threw in “ASD FISHING PLEASE” as his request. What? This makes no sense at all! Is there a secret fishing minigame that we don’t know about? D0PEB0T went as far as to issuing an ultimatum: “Bring back sotp or give me death you cowards.” This man is ready to die for a raid. That’s pretty intense commitment.
Some of the users were trying to be helpful in a constructive manner. GrimoireGamer66 made a very informative comment stating, “I would love to see all feasible seasonal activities made available and playable, but I especially would like to see Deep Dives, Salvage, and Ketchcrash added. 🙏 As for the location in the portal, I think the place on the screen where the Seasonal Event home is would be acceptable but a node on the Director screen would be even better.” That’s good feedback.
And Blitz pretty much hit the nail with the real talk: “Fix primary damage, and put all raids on PlayStation and Xbox.”
