Around the drama, bugs, and debates, Destiny 2‘s inaugural World-First Desert Perpetual Raid champions were crowned. The fireteam of milito, Dabs, Enskeria, Silken, mitcH, and Ham completed Contest Mode, but they had little time to celebrate due to accusations of exploit abuse and design flaws.
Bungie went ahead and congratulated the winners through an official tweet, which was met by a huge backlash. Some players expressed their sarcastic joy, like Spike LeStrange: Congrats guys it was a fun one indeed. Lots of tears to add to the vex milk. Others, however, were accusative. Cal_I_Guess accused the winners: So bungie are ok with people abusing the ammo bug for LoWs then? Tbf, I don’t think you finish this raid without it with how poorly it’s been designed.
The controversy continued. Trick Shot Ernie rambled about its design while tweeting: Can’t wait to go practice on normal now …………., with CMFK taking it up a notch and calling the whole raid Lazy raid, slop. And the gripes were not all about mechanics—players like Yozu_Sama were in favor of the known streamer Salt not claiming a win: Can we all appreciate – as a community that Salt lost? LETS GOOOO.
On the contrary, the salt turned into saltiness. The shootingSpark complimented Enskeria, calling her the #GOAT for performing back-to-back World Firsts with different teams, while Stefan Iorcic took a shot at Bungie’s leadership: Ur Game Director need to go back to his old job of Specialist. As manager/leader he is bad. Ouch.
Next came bug discussions in DMs and comments. PlayerOption1 would chime in with, There is a lot of old bugs that also happened in pantheon as well, while some argued that without exploiting glitches, the raid was practically impossible. The back and forth were whether or not Bungie was going to do anything about the exploiters-well, spoiler alert: probably not.
Some were just celebrating amidst the chaos. Congrats to all!! J’s Gaming World shouted, while Steve (SycKnight) gave a half-way congrats: Congrats on the clear! But really now, talk about Destiny 2, will you? The land of drama, memes, and slop comments.
So, what’s next? Since Contest Mode just got cleared, Normal Mode should be what players will be looking toward in about an hour, assuming they haven’t been thoroughly traumatized by the number of bugs. History suggests that a couple of patches will drop from Bungie to kill the worst parts, but for now, Desert Perpetual Raid is very much in current conversations, indicating once again that Destiny’s community is passionate and chaotic.
And hey, at least some memery was born out of this one. TEAM NUTS LOL anyone? It reminds one of the adventures in Tomb Raider.
