Destiny 2 players were caught unawares for a few spellbinding moments with the genesis of a beautiful new piece of loot. Ada-1 has started selling a new Hand Cannon at the Shooting Range, where the style of shooting involves short distances with spread shots: Phoneutria Fera. And the catch? Free for all. No paywall exists; no grinding (unless you want to). Just make your way to Shooting Range and snag one for yourself. There is one issue: The Destiny community is very diverse, and their reactions vary.
Describe the weapon first. A short-range Hand Cannon that shoots numerous pellets. Well, that is just a saw-off unpolished version with a few tweaks, and some are already calling it one of the best sidearms experiences they have had in months. @zaffy2005 posited, “Really hoping the design team leans into that with some new models,” implying the potential of further development for such weapons.
Others, however, have been loath to make such comments. @DestinyOneVet declared, “I’m not real crazy about that Hand Cannon to be honest,” while @Michael06379669 politely declined: “No thanks. Not collecting.” Ouch.
The topic soon enters the perennial thorny issues. At least three players have reported having problems claiming their rewards: @TheInksy cannot claim rewards from Zavala; @DentyTxR is barred from getting Tier 4 drops; and @PochamaGaming_ declared the grind was just “super boring.” “You have to spend a ludrous amount of time playing a single activity,” came his displeased complaint.
Another occasion for passion to flare is one for Destiny. As others flared it on, @CameronBro200 told one to “level up and stop crying,” moving back and forth towards name-calling; “@KC_4191” retorted, “Imagine calling someone a shit cunt on the internet without looking in the mirror.”
Here comes the noisy part: According to some players, confusion reigns: @malshots asks, “Is this free or do I need to play the game?” (Yes, it is free. No, you don’t have to play, but like, why wouldn’t you?) And @TNT_909_ continues scrambling for clues on how to nab that new sword from Arms Week, screaming in a silent agony: “BUNGIEEEEE.”
What can one say in that case? Phoneutria Fera is arguably a nice addition, but for Destiny players being Destiny players, there is always something to talk about. Whatever your thoughts might be: whether you like it, hate it, or just want to combine it with another gun (yes, @Michael06379669, I am looking at you), at the very least, it gives us something new to work with.
If only Bungie would go and patch that out now…
