Destiny 2’s Solstice devouring multi-year event is now all hat and all the dance. With its arrival comes Holofoil weapons, activity modifiers, and event challenges. While few players are cruising under warm summer vibes, some are rather annoyed with the grind; Bonfire Bash is sorely missed.
This Solstice offers the most desired new-generation weapons with Holofoil finish. The very rhinestones made fresh and bright; however, their acquisition is never heard to be simple. The player base has been all about grievances with drop rates, with some even saying that their luck has been extraordinarily poor; @Shiny_Odin claimed to have seen no single drop of Holofoil whatsoever from a minimum rank of 349 up until???, which from rank 404 contradicted this statement. Then @bananatray1st chimed in: “I haven’t had a single holofoil SMG drop.”
And then there’s the matter of Bonfire Bash. For those who weren’t aware of what Bonfire Bash was, it would be fondly remembered as a great little activity during past Solstice events where Guardians would toss orbs into the giant bonfire. This year? GONE. And the gamers are not amused. @ChaoticAigis420 probably created the dumbest tweet out there, saying, “Rank 4 because you guys got rid of Bonfire Bash.” @EvolDeezul also chimed, “And no Bonfire Bash… for shame.”
But some things in the event aren’t being complained about. Some love the guns, but hate the grind; @elmatatan22584 calls it “by far the best event right now,” while @PanteraBLS declares, “Love this event so far!!!” Others loved the vibe: @MediaCastleX tweeted, “These are some real summer vibes.”
Now let’s get into what these Holofoil weapons look like, considered interesting by some players. Many compared these to water guns, though its intention as a compliment or an insult remains somewhat unclear. @fattigmann1 joked, “Looks like waterguns…” and @ChronixVx asked, “Why do these look like water guns?”
Next up is talking about FOMO. The time constraints that come with the event could pressure some players. @FrigginDuck begged, “Could you guys extend Solstice with a week or two? I want my tier 5 sht and the fomo is creeping ever closer.” On the other hand, @UniTyDotOne says, “Been busy for these two weeks so fomo is hitting me pretty badly.”
Armor focusing probably sits at the very top on the list of disgruntled words of complaint. @Slyder768 says, “The ghost mod for armor focusing needs a buff, I’m getting everything but the one I want,” while @mrmisomanga4124 chimed in by declaring the new grenade launcher “pretty trash” but then went on to suggest some far-fetched Strand-themed perks that would have made it way more interesting.
Whatever importances the different opinions carry, Solstice still attracts people. Some already maxed their ranks without a single drop, others are just happy to pocket a few cool guns and ghost.
Is this year’s Solstice an offer or in-forgiveness? It partly depends on who’s answering. One thing is sure though-Destiny 2 players have opinions. Whether they’re grinding for that one good Holofoil drop or bemoaning the death of Bonfire Bash, the event surely sets their tongues wagging. Back to the grind or chill for a bit with those water gunlooking weapons.
