The artist Deadmau5 happened to be the very first musician to develop a personal Icon skin in Fortnite. Coming reactions were rarely polarized: a few maintain the hype from the gamers, others completely roast it, and yet some bear not the faintest idea of who this “Deadmau5” is?? The skin came out with lots of styles-less typical for an Icon skin-were a great deal of fodder for debate. But let us break it down because it’s like pure chaos, for the good.

First, the skin itself. It kind of cemented that helmet look with a very Fortnite twist-neon colors, a nice slurp variant, slick details. But here’s the kicker: no classic black or red mau5head. That is a choice. (@retro_rez) Some players considered it, “No black or classic red mau5head is… a choice. Still gotta get though,” thus as imperfect as it is, some find the ownership of a Deadmau5 skin just far too enticing.

The flip side was from @ViceXXII who stated flat, “No one will buy this shit🥀,” with @aqwamarene concurring bluntly, “yea nb buying ts.” Going a little harsh here? But also fair? Well, not everyone is into EDM and let alone knows who Deadmau5 is, so some might find it difficult to relate. @Carter4206975 even challenged, “name a single Deadmau5 song,” which is…ouch.

The styles-versus-problem: @McFellaa went banana: “An icon skin that uses STYLES!? INSTEAD OF MAKING SEPARATE SKINS!?” Because, you know, Fortnite just sells separate skins for each different look. This was a nice shake-up. Some players enjoyed all the variety, while others-specifically @ShrekLepre16063-wanted nothing to do with it, preferred a Goat Simulator emote instead, and basically called it “ass.”

Meanwhile, those combo suggestions had developers theorizing possible combos for the skin, sharing images of back blings and pickaxes that’d go well with it. Both @Surfer_Universe and @Etanibrut offered some combo ideas, proving that despite the divisiveness of the skin, creativity never really stops.

And then there was the confusion. @Phillyflash30 said, “People in the comments disappoint me that they don’t know who this is,” whereas @HappyVideograbber just exclaimed, “It so good deadmau5 finally.”

This collab is going to happen, whether you love it or hate it or just don’t get it, so let Fortnite shake up the player base a bit! Some will get it on day one, some won’t bother, and the rest will just meme it to death all over.

Where do you stand? For any Deadmau5 fan, it is by far a must-go! For anyone else? They’ll go just fine without it in their thankful account of V-Bucks. This, however, is an utterly wild addition to the rapidly expanding catalog of crossovers over at Fortnite. And honestly? We wouldn’t change it for anything.
