Till now, Mac Bhadram Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition possesses the total Night City experience of base game and Phantom Liberty expansion for the Apple ecosystem. So it also marks its sale on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store, another step made in the giant redemption arc for an ailing RPG of yesteryears, masterminded by CD Projekt Red. The celebrants are mounting, while the rest are, let’s say, mixed vibes.
The good and the bad- finally, Mac users can have the City by Night without getting into Windows or cloud streaming. The Ultimate Edition has everything: the patch 2.0 overhaul, the spy-thriller storyline of Phantom Liberty, and every other patch to (mostly) fix the indignant issues ever since birth. Indeed, for any noob out there, it probably is the best way to go; for the sajdazb, yet another reason to take a sad stroll down memory lane with Johnny Silverhand’s Wild Charm.
CDPR’s comment section on the announcement can be described as a shoreline full of salt. Sony fanboys are outraged that the very first people to have taken the brunt of the disastrous 2020 release get “100% NOTHING” in return for their loyalty. Another said it in caps: FORGOTTED LOYALTY. Ow. Some are pleading with little requests: FOV slider on consoles, or New Game+. One even flatly calls this update “dogshit.” Is that harsh? Perhaps. The expected “a lot more” probably got compounded with the warranty patches over all these years, though.
That’s just it with Mac drama. So, Intel Mac users are now up for wondering if their machines can even run the game (spoiler alert: it really ain’t well)? One player reports a crash at launch; another goes to say in good humor, “I hope that when I come back it’s playable” halfway through the download. In the meantime, modders are looking for clues in the promo art, pointing out the slick outfit displayed cannot be obtained without third-party Zaums. Classic Cyberpunk: one step into progress, one into a puddle of uncertainty.
Still, however, the love for Night City prevails. A PS5 owner purchased the Mac version to support CDPR’s Mac push and called it a “trend” that should be followed by more developers. Another one declared the port as “one of the best things to happen on mankind,” which, needless to say, could be a hair too far-but it’s passion all the way. Of course, let’s not forget one player screaming at the top of their lungs, “IT’S HEREEEEEEEEEEEE.”
So what’s next? There’ve been whispers of a second DLC (or not), as well as pleas for PSVR2 support. But for now, Mac gamers have their chance. Just maybe keep a backup save-and a stress ball-at hand.
