Unless I’m crazy, CDPR just released a wild update relating to Phantom Liberty, claiming 10 million players had scouted Dogtown ever since the launch. That spells a lot of espionage, betrayals, and Keanu vibes in Night City. The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter congratulated these million or so “chooms” for enjoying their lives on a grand level.
Here’s the thing: There’s not even a thousand thank yous back from players. Oh, no. They are outright yelling for MORE. And they want it NOW. To wit: @Tancapgazzz replied: “Okay BUT hear me out… what if… we do it all over again… with another DLC? C’mon, choom.” Honestly? I hear that in the back of my mind, too.
Players’ love for Phantom Liberty is real. They are calling it “one of the best DLCs ever,” with @FckngRetard saying that it’s “on par with the main story, if not better.” That is a huge compliment given how off-the-wall the base game’s narrative was. Others like @K4d4m7 outright termed the entire experience a “masterpiece,” applauding the music, characters, and atmosphere.
Well, not all of these conversations are filled with praise. There are players who already have their next request ready: @Mind2191’s call for “more post-game content” in the sequel, although @PapilionemDev accidentally stumbled into a perfect idea: “We need more end-game stuff like NCPD missions that appear once in a while or more cyber psychos.” Legit, really.
The game is really good for modders, in fact. Calling it the “best modding experience in a game I ever played,” @DeVsTheWorld is very complementary, given that Skyrim and Fallout exist. And we would especially want to thank the Turkish folks: @JackWrestleRrR thanked CDPR for localizing the story so they could play it too.
Of course, assuming that movies are the only problems that this game has would be naive. Some are technical issues—like that from @GamerOnTheRight, who is still trying to get the GOG version to run on the Steam Deck via Heroic Launcher. Ouch. @UndeadCenturion meanwhile said that, based on Cyberpunk player counts, Ubisoft “could learn a thing or two.”
And then rumors turn again over Switch 2. Because that’s what happens. @DemiusB joked, “I now want the Switch 2 version. Why am I like this.” Then in the meanwhile, @Nogami_Kira is certain that the next Nintendo console will get it for the CDPR team “deserved this and more.”
Now, for the real question-will there be another DLC? @malvathio said maybe not off the table with this many players still around from the first one. If anything, the demand from the fans is so loud that it would be crazy for CDPR not to do it.
At present, Phantom Liberty has become a redemption for Cyberpunk 2077—a game that was once considered an “overhyped mess” (@Thorzilla) to now a “genuinely terrific experience.” And with 10 million players entering Dogtown, it is clear that Night City is not going to thin-air anytime soon.
Keep modding, keep hiding those good endings, and mighthem just keep an eye on that next expansion. The one thing this community knows how to do-HOW TO ASK FOR MORE. LOUDLY.
