VALORANT fans, get ready; the new VCT Rankings have just dropped, and things are heating up in the field. Cryocells_ comfortably continues to sit at the top; however, a new wave of players is slowly rearing their heads, hoping to turn things upside down. The official Valorant Champions Tour Twitter account had teased an update with a tweet saying, “New faces join the K:D list, but @Cryocells_ still holds #1! Let’s see who breaks through next week. #VCT.”
To be honest? The replies are somewhat crazy. Usually, competitive entries set up comment storming, back and forth on stats, hyping their favorites, and shading the rankings. Now, crickets! Maybe they have been busy grinding instead of arguing online, or maybe the rankings were so accurate that there was no point in disagreeing. Maybe not.
Cryocells_ has been a power for quite a while now, so seeing him still holding the #1 spot doesn’t come as a surprise. The real story lies in these “new faces” creeping up on the K:D list. Who are these people, anyway? Are they the underdogs we have been waiting for, or are those some old-timers who suddenly decided to step it up?
The tweet doesn’t mention any names, which could be seen either as genius for all the hype or just plain lazy. Either way, it’s working, as we are all now invested in just who is about to make that statement.
Just-the-tweeting-prompted-outside-world-dejected alluded to an inside-and-out-like-nobody-would-seem-to-do-it-area-of-gathering. Say, every stat, every clutch, every whiff in the VCT boards is worthy of public interest. Players grind like never before, the boards were jumping like a Jett main with an Operator, truly volatile!
If Cryocells_ sees one unfortunate week, he would be toppled off from his throne; and, another amazing display would catapult some upstart to infamy. That’s the Valorant ecosystem, frankly, quite unpredictable.
There will always be some upstart coming in just to mess things up. So we’re either going to see a duelist headshot enemies with 30 bombs every map, or an IGL commanding pieces as though he is in 4D chess. Regardless, the fight over #1 is far from over. And only time will tell if Cryocells_ gets to hold onto the top with a minimalist effort, for these new boys are now becoming a serious contender.
The throne remains with the king; for how long? Next week will tell. And hey, to the others: “new faces”-great job, just know we’re watching; no pressure.
