Capcom detonated a hype bomb in the fighting game community, announcing Power Stone and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, set to release on May 16, 2025. The tweet from Capcom announcing this said Power Stone would bring legendary treasure chasing and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper would bring stakes for exciting brawls, among some other unverifiable titles. Pre-orders are said to be live-the hype train is on for the ride.

For gamers that missed the glory days of battle brawlers in arcade gaming, Power Stone was that 3D fighter with toss-able chairs, throw-able barrels, and adrenaline-pumping power-ups in the middle of fights. Pure. Unadulterated. Fun. It’s like Super Smash Bros.-on steroids, with caffeine.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, meanwhile, is the one version of the classic that is called the definitive one and is full of characters, modes, and that sweet, sweet pixel-art nostalgia.

The first Capcom Fighting Collection was a love letter to all fans of the arcade, and within its nomenclature, it covered gems such as Darkstalkers and Red Earth.

Now, with Power Stone and Alpha 3 secured for the sequel, one can only wonder what is left kicking around the roster. Rival Schools? Cyberbots? Or a Mack Truck of a Marvel vs. Capcom surprise? All this conjecture runs rampant among the fans, yet Capcom left nothing for imagination with their tweet. It is a warzone of wishlists in the replies.

There hasn’t been a single reply on the official tweet in the hour that has passed since its posting-probably won’t be for too long. The FGC will be voicing themselves rather soon. Rollback net code for the remaster, HD upscaling for everything, and definitely that one dude asking why Capcom can’t just remake Power Stone 3 already.

In essence, it is now available for pre-orders, with no information yet on pricing or platforms. If it were to follow the same layout as the first collection, we are looking at something like a $40 digital drop and then a physical release for hardcore collectors. Either way, whatever May 2025 brings, fighting fans cannot wait for it.
