Activision has formally disclosed the very first look at Haven’s Hollow on December 4th, the fresh Resurgence map that will accompany the entrance of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 01. This map is represented as a stunning town in the Appalachians and is full of intrigue, destruction, and a totally new territory for players to uncover. The announcement trailer reveals a pretty American countryside with mountains, forests, and a large city area that seems perfect for close-range fighting.

The feedback from the Call of Duty community has been quite… let’s just say it is extremely mixed. The player base is split into two extremes, with one side being extremely enthusiastic and one of the commenters Phinxx2K stating ‘This was so electrifying, best trailer ever 🔥’ and ‘This is so lovely. 😍’ from ditzypunnk. Most gamers have probably been waiting for a long time to see something new in Warzone and they seem to acknowledge the visual presentation.

But on the other side of the coin, RVABURN pithily remarked ‘Looks more fortnite than fortnite does these days’ which to be honest? Kind of true but not necessarily a bad thing. The trailer does radiate a rather peculiar rustic charm that is quite different from the usual military shooter settings. And speaking about the different, the choice of Kenny Rogers’ music in the trailer has drawn mixed responses – there are some people who loved the atmosphere while ubasoft was whining ‘Country music! Really?, c’mon guys, you can do better than that!’

Haven’s Hollow is presumed to be a map purely designed for Resurgence mode; this indicates a faster game flow alongside faster respawn times in comparison to the standard battle royale play. It could as well be Warzone’s remedy for keeping things fresh and the players from getting bored of the existing maps. On the other hand, iam_claud raised a justified worry: ‘Looks cool , but do not take away rebirth island’ – let’s be honest, no one is willing to give up their most loved maps to the locker.

In the comments, there are also some quite fascinating hypotheses. primisektor talked about the original Zombies team being transferred to Haven’s Hollow which immediately makes me think there could be some Easter eggs or links to the lore. GoldenCrowbar was the one who proposed using the map for other modes like Endgame or Zombies, which actually sounds like a brilliant idea, given the intricate appearance of the environment.

Of course, it is not a Call of Duty announcement if there are no complaints about technical problems. Several gamers have voiced their concerns regarding the continuous issues like the poor aim assist for console players, the black screen problem in split-screen that José Rubén Matamoros referred to, and the cheater problem, which RVABURN pointed to as still being unaddressed. These are serious problems that Activision has to tackle along with the release of new content.

The trailer also features some massively action-sequence-heavy parts – for example, people parachuting getting shot at, which wagodiogo pegged as a potential not-so-fun gameplay mechanic. In contrast, caskayd calls for riot shields to be reintroduced, which… well, we will just have to wait and see how that turns out.

What really draws the attention is the fact that this revelation came after its initial testing for Spring 2026; according to JayMart2k, hence the unexpected release date of December feels like Activision might be trying to make a grand move just before the holiday season. The rivalry in the shooter segment of the gaming market is going to be definitely fierce with Battlefield probably up to something as JackNapierBtman’s enigmatic comment ‘In bf6 redsec’ suggests.

The design of the map appears to consist of several distinctly different locations rather than the recycling of existing multiplayer maps, which was the case of Blackout in Black Ops 4. This could mean that we will be given totally new areas that are designed for battle royale gameplay, a much-needed alteration for the veterans who are fed up with playing on the old maps.

Some gamers are already delineating their strategies – JustFonz_ disclosed that he is ‘Halfway done with singularity so I will definitely be ready by the time this drops’, which raises my curiosity about what sorts of challenges or Easter eggs might be concealed in the current season leading to Haven’s Hollow’s launch.

The community is more or less divided when it comes to the question of whether this is an improvement or an excessive departure from the Call of Duty roots. BrotherNerox820 simply shouted ‘Seriously need to drop fortnite mode’ indicating that there are still considerable amounts of gamers who do not support Warzone’s current direction. However, on the contrary, there are those like Rand_AL_Marmot who claim to be ‘Actually pumped ngl’, which suggests that it is a mixed bag situation.
