A very wild new merch offering from Call of Duty: a really animated popcorn bucket shaped after the Verdansk Stadium, and the reactions truly went all over the map, some excited about it and others gave enough heat to Activision to outshine a Warzone lobby full of cheaters.
The official Call of Duty Twitter account launched the pop-culture popcorn bucket inspired by the famous Verdansk Stadium from Warzone. The fiery design and offer to raffle one really set the Twitterverse ablaze. Half the world was there joking about the snacking-on-the-go attitude while sniping; the other half, yep, they did have thoughts.
No one could’ve kept his mouth shut, Mikey D (@diggy1984) stating the very obvious with the continuous issues of cheating: “The only thing popping in COD is rampant cheaters! There is NO consequence for hackers that basically are allowed to ruin our paid gaming experience!” Oof. It only gets worse since he also said that Fortnite is and has always been better than Activision at fighting against cheaters. And truthfully, he’s right.
Just awaiting memes disposition: @CatastropheSQ said, “I bet you there will be another weed bundle lmao,” referring to the game’s… peculiar… cosmetic choices. @IncogIntellect chimed in with the “Where’s all the gayness gone?” because, let me tell you, COD’s rainbow capitalism moments have been tons.
Some refused to roast. Some hyped players started hyping up the ones making plays similar to @ghilliedupomega, sharing clips of in-game Stadium plays with “see you at stadium π«΅π»π΅π«” vibes; meanwhile, @TitokhanTDD was just wondering if caramel popcorn was there.
How can one NOT mention the Battlefield v/s COD debate in the span of a COD tweet? @SirSki97 noted, “Battlefield is gonna save FPS.. FINALLY,” drawing a retort from @BearPigCentral’s loyal team to the franchise. It was classic gamer drama- some were clearly going to switch from COD and try BF6’s beta; others claimed they’ll try it and be back after.
Next up, regional struggles. @TanoMozzo from Australia vents their empty lobbies and high ping and pleas that devs rotate modes rather than split the player base. @MUGIWARAGANG02 rage-quit over chat bans, threatening to switch to Fortnite.
So what’s the verdict? The popcorn bucket is one hilarious flex or just another distraction from yet another helluva painful issue going on in the game, depending on who you ask. In any case, it at least got people talking: at the very least, it shows the COD community is as chaotic as ever, even after all these years.
Want one? Sweepstakes are live; good luck keeping the sweats off its entry page like it’s a loadout drop. πΏπ₯
