Treyarch has gone under the knife with the maps, creating rebirths of the existing wickets, layouts of new modes, and even a fresh taste of Zombies in “Reckoning.” Negative feedback was one of the most common ones among the… mixed reactions.
Let me tell you the good stuff: Season 5 boasts a new mode: Aim High with great reception from a few. Then we have Season 05 Moshpit, Stakeout 24/7, Nuketown 24/7 (because seriously, when does Nuketown not get played?), and Small Map Moshpit for those who delight in close quarters combat chaos. And then there’s “Zombies: Reckoning,” which should be the crowning jewel—in any case, some players reported that matchmaking is awkward, with squads sometimes not loading properly. Ouch.
It starts to go downhill from there. The update size? Massive. Like, “Why is my console downloading an entire new game?” kind of massive. The complaints about huge downloads came flying, with some even alleging that they had to download the whole game all over again. One of the gamers crying emitted, “YAY I’m glad I don’t have metered internet, because REDOWNLOADING THE WHOLE GAME is SOOO FUN.” The sarcasm was so heavy, you could cut it with a blade.
And thus comes the Battlefield 6 effect. Many responses roasted Call of Duty with “Only bums will play Cod; real gamers are on BF6” and “Dead game.” Ouch. Seems some of the players have had enough with what they call Canon recycled content, missing features (where’s Ranked Mode, Treyarch?), and server issues. A player even called the Battle Pass a “slap in the face.”
And what about Zombies? While “Reckoning” should theoretically be the big lure, some have actually gotten bored already. Some were annoyed with “Rebirth island is played the fuck out!” and are demanding new Resurgence maps or at least a rotation. On the other hand, another one remarked that contracts in Warzone are too far from each other, and Stadium rarely ends up in the circle. Small niggles, but the entire weight piles down upon grinding from matches.
And about the Black Cell bundle? The sale is “unavailable.” Yep, I would say this has been far from a smooth rollout.
Well now that Season 5 is out and bursting with plenty to offer, will it really be able to keep the racers away from Battlefield 6? The game, while having a definite fanbase, could end up being downed by loud complaints towards this or that – file sizes, modes missing here and there, server stability perhaps. Maybe Treyarch can put all of this to shame in the next patch or maybe the beta of Battlefield 6 will snatch the spotlight. Now that’s a spicy one.
Still playing? Well, hey! Nuketown’s still there! Some things never really get out of style.
