Activision has once again proven they listen to the community and are willing to act on demand. In line with the announcement of Black Ops 7, the publisher is generously dishing out 20 battle pass tier skip vouchers as gifts to the players. Just head over to your Warzone as well as Black Ops 6 accounts starting today and enjoy the rapid battle pass progress boost. From today to the 16th of September, just visit either Warzone or Black Ops 6 and you will receive double the Battle Pass progress. There is simply no catch; the only requirement is that you claim your gift prior to the deadline.

This matters an awful lot, particularly for those that have invested countless hours attempting to master the current season. Speaking of seasonal updates, Battle Pass progress tokens are arguably the closest thing to a “fast-forward” button for the Battle Pass. Every token represents an automatic progression of one tier, unlocking the Battle Pass rewards for that tier. So 20 tokens? As far as I can tell, it’s the same as skipping a full 20% of the pass, for at least half the price. You don’t have to purchase a single thing. The investment level is $0. Just turn on your console and say, “Hello, friend.”

But like any other Call of Duty thing, reactions are mixed. Some users are hyped up. Guty’s comment “Good shiitttt felllas !!!!” perfectly sums up the excitement. SpaceRocket86’s “Y’all always deliver” is a nice nuance, but a bit too optimistic. So now, let’s take a look at the opposing side of the argument.

This is somewhat useless for those who have already completed the Battle Pass. From that perspective, the CSFox user asked, “What if the battle pass has already been completed?” For a change, he asked a valid question. Unlike with the majority of CoD gifts, this one is really considerate, for most. For the few people who finished hardcore grinding weeks in advance, it’s a wash. It’s like being handed a free dessert after you’ve paid and left the restaurant.

Then there’s the issue of frustration regarding the timing. Keon’s wrist expressed anger with the words “Y’all wait until I complete the Battle Pass to do this bullshit?” and that really does come off as, yeah, a stinging remark. You go through all that time grinding—then—as a consolation, a bunch of free progress gets handed to you. Feelsbadman.

And it doesn’t stop there. The comments are filled with players requesting other features. Dewitt Myers tries on a really stubborn quest to “bring back carry forward to bo7” and he has tweeted like… a dozen times. Literally, he responded to a bunch of people with the same message. Dedication. Other players are inquiring about loaded resurgence, whining about cheating, or the game just being dead. A user by the name Tired Old Man lamented, “Nobody cares until you stop the cheating. You continue to lose players and this is your response.” Oof.

But wait, what was I saying? Oh right, the free stuff. So how do you get it? It’s simple. Just log into Call of Duty: Warzone or Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 anytime between now and September 16th. The tier skips should be automatically applied to your account. If you don’t see them right away, maybe give it a little time. User Mohit Mander said he didn’t get them and asked how to claim them, so maybe there’s a slight delay for some people. But Activision says they’re doing it, so you should get them.

This is clearly a move to get people excited for Black Ops 7. The reveal is coming up, and what better way to build hype than to give away free stuff in the current game? It gets people logging back in, maybe playing a few matches, and thinking about COD again. Especially if they’ve taken a break. And for players who are still working on the pass, it’s a legit nice bonus. 20 tiers is no joke. That’s hours of gameplay saved.

But it also highlights some of the ongoing issues with the game. The comments are a mix of appreciation and straight-up anger. Some players are just done with the current state of things. They want anti-cheat, they want better content, they want the old systems back. One user, Slynerck, said “Get rid of the stupid battle pass system and bring back supply drops” which is… a take. Not sure everyone agrees with that one, but it shows people have strong feelings.

At the end of the day, free stuff is free stuff. Even if you’re already done with the pass, it’s a nice little bonus for logging in. And for everyone else, it’s a huge help. With Black Ops 7 on the horizon, Activision is clearly trying to keep the community engaged and reward the players who are still sticking around. Whether it works or not… well, that’s up to the players. But 20 free tier skips? Can’t really complain about that. Unless you already finished. Then you can complain a lot. Anyway, log in and grab yours before they’re gone.
