It’s a bit of an unfair statement to say, generically, that a ballerina assassins was the big reveal for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Season 4. You heard me right. Coming June 3, she is a union of elegance and death. In perfect teasing fashion, COD’s official Twitter account posted a cryptic message: “She’s a ballerina. She’s an assassin.” After that, of course, everyone, including the rest of the internet, had opinions.

Let us talk about the reveal first. Lethal and slick kind of… like she got away from a John Wick spin-off? The character is the odd yet brilliant marriage of elegance and carnage-that perfectly fits into the over-the-top universe Black Ops has been so very much embracing lately. But the vibes don’t go with all.

Some are excited about it, though. @KarlMetaX said the graphics were dope. Meanwhile, there was @LoganE_Z who thought it was pretty freaking smart from a marketing standpoint to toss in a ballerina assassin just before Ballerina (a John Wick universe flick) came out. Others? Uh, no.

The replies could very well be a battlefield in their own rights. @Squirty_Farts reminisced, “Member when CoD was just cool military shit and trying to be accurate?” @NFLComedySkits took the insults: “Whoever made and whoever approved her face for the game needs to be fired.” Ouch!

Then came pricing drama. Several users, including @pookie_flex and @A_Savage117, feel this assassin may be a paywall—rumored at $30. That’s a ridiculous price for one operator, while some players are still begging for the game to be fixed (@UnJoueurDur screamed, “FIX THE GAME!”).

Another classic Call of Duty divide is born: Some players want hideous skins (shoutout to @dannysmith54, who can’t wait to “wear a dress like that while shooting guns and trash talking”), and some players miss the days when operators actually looked like, y’know, soldiers (@Squirty_Farts, indeed!).

But that is the rub: Whatever your feelings about this reveal may be-whether love or hate-it now does one thing: Confirms that Call of Duty is all about spectacle. Maybe-John Wick vibes, movie tie-in possibilities, and just the outright spirit of putting a ballerina in a military shooter-BLack Ops 6 is certainly embracing its own brand of crazy, loud cousin.

Circle June 3 in big red. From ballet to bullet-shooting to just your classical bitch sessions on both, Season 4 is going to be something else. And hey, this is going to be a fun rallying point for all of us until the next big leak, if nothing else.

Oh, P.S.-If you were expecting a single-player campaign with this assassin (@CreatveMonster threw out that idea), well, don’t hold your breath. This is Call of Duty, baby. The madness in multiplayer is the real game.

Now, who’s pre-ordering that ballerina bundle? …Anybody?
