Bungie has come up with yet another surprise for the Destiny 2 players: they are hyped-beyond all expectations. Not only were the Crucible rewards increased this weekend; there was such an announcement from the studio that boosted “Trials of Osiris” rep gains increased even more. Very honestly? This is so out-of-the-blue.
Well, actually Bungie was going to buff only rewards in PvP, and then they were like “Eh, screw it; let’s throw in some Trials rep too.” Really, it’s kind of like finding an extra fry at the bottom of the bag: small, but ooh.
As if that’s not enough, it promises much more: Marathon gameplay reveal is on Saturday-yes, you heard that right. So that makes a weekend dedicated to STACKING Guardians and fans of Bungie’s future extraction shooter.
Then what’s the deal with these bonuses? Just in case you’ve not really been hitting the PvP section recently (can’t blame you), here’s what they’re saying:
– Crucible Rewards: Loot drops more often and bigger. Go through a match and no more blues.
– Trials Rep: Rank-up a lot faster and more of Saint’s goodies become available. Less grinding, more wins.
The timing couldn’t be better. Trials is… well, Trials, sweaty as hell, and the extra rep is a godsend for players who are trying to farm on that fresh-new-with-adept weapons or just really want to hit that sweet, sweet reset. And let’s keep it real: anything that makes that grind go a little bit easier in PvP is a W in our book.
Oh, but wait, there’s more. The last mysterious “See you Starside, Guardians” graphic sign-off from Bungie has the community buzzing. It could be a really sweet little reference of some kind in the Marathon reveal or something bigger, but that’s just classic Bungie in that it always keeps us guessing at the end.
“Will be no replies to that tweet yet but you KNOW this one is going to put the Destiny community aflame with howls.” Followed by a hundred floods of “Bungie W” memes, followed by some legendary clips of unbelievable Crucible plays and probably some whines on why this was not done earlier.
And if you were avoiding the PvP parties, this is your cue to get in. Grab that sweet meta loadout (or run whatever, we don’t judge) and prepare for a weekend of mayhem, looting, and maybe some peeks at Marathon.
