Entering a giveaway like this is serious business. Borderlands teamed up with NVIDIA to make custom-print Claptrap PCs featuring the GeForce RTX 5080. I repeat: Claptrap PC! That little annoying robot whom we love to hate packaging the most powerful gaming hardware known to humankind. And for free? I can hardly believe it.
What goes on here? So Borderlands-tufts-their-socials announced this collaboration, and the response has been… well, let’s just say beyond insane. To enter, you share their post, and follow Borderlands and NVIDIA GeForce. Pretty much easy, yeah? But, what of the prize… Heartbreaker of a prize! A Claptrap custom-built PC with an RTX 5080. The card hasn’t even been released-yet-you’re really getting next-gen tech before anybody else. Terms and conditions do apply; so you might want to check out all the details from their link. But more or less, the gist is: Huge hype collaboration.
According to my Twitter research, there seems an equal balance between utter desperation and pure excitement. CrimsonScorpion2, well-wishing, said he would have liked to gift it to his kid–super wholesome, honestly. Then, Dagger was quite straightforward about it: “I need this so bad” while everybody was thinking it. Classic-Tony-Tortillo-skeptical-gamer-energy, as he said, “It won’t run the game tho”—probably a slight poke at gamers’ past grievances regarding performance. Well, with an RTX 5080, Dishonored better run on any game you throw at it.
Chimpai2ElectricBoogaloo said, “Absolutely BONKERS of a build”—that sums it well. Then again, Brandon Burton, or l’appelait, said, “Been rocking with Borderlands since my Xbox 360 so this would be a dream,” indicating that longtime fans feel in particular. If that happened, it would blow my mind! It’s really cool,” said TehP0le, who also dropped hashtags #BorderlandsRTX and #2KGiveaway, presumably to raise the visibility of candidates on social media.
But that didn’t sit well with everyone. A few took a Senatorly style. KhaotikzLethal sneered, “game runs so bad they’re giving away computers that can run it at 40 fps 4k native.” Oof, harsh, but might be half-right if you’ve ever had the experience. Then, SagevsBabylon chimed in from the same camp: “Can the Pc you’re giving away run your game😂”—so obviously, some gamers are upset about the performance level. Come to think of it, get close to winning this rig; then almost surely worthwhile missing a few drops of frames.
JarlSidney got that personal: “This series has meant the world to me. I would die for a pc like this. I havent had a desktop in ages and would stream the game nonstop on twitch if i won this” — now, this is the kind of passion that makes these giveaways compelling. It’s not just about the hardware; it’s about what it means for the community. Joey Sliwoski called it “the sickest custom PC EVER,” and honestly, I can’t disagree. Claptrap-shaped case? Instant gamer’s glory.
Now, for all of the silly things. TheKeven1ng asked, “Does it talk trash when you shut it down?” If it didn’t, that’s a big missed opportunity. Imagine Claptrap whining every time you power down. Priceless. Terovr said, “If it’s shaped like Claptrap too I’ll go broke just to have one 😂” — and honestly, if this ever becomes a thing sold in stores, the limited supply will vanish in under a minute. The design alone is an obvious selling point.
So what this whole thing says is that Borderlands and NVIDIA are tapping into the community love for the franchise while addressing hardware dips in modern gaming. Giveaway for a next-level PC? Sure way to amp-up hype, and with the Claptrap fit-theme, gives Borderlands in his own special way. Not very unwise, if most of these players look at most of these players just a few streams ago, using much of the older setups. One player, regg PR, straight-up says, “My 1660 is begging for help!! 🤧” — sentiments probably echoed by a lot of folks.
And in the end, this giveaway is more than just a competition. It’s a declaration. It’s Borderlands saying “We see you, we hear you, and we’re gonna hook one of you up with something insane.” Whether you’re in it for nostalgia or power or for the sheer absurdity of having a Claptrap beside your desktop, this is one opportunity you do not want to sleep on. The hype is real; entries are rolling in, and someone’s about to become entire gaming community envy. So get in those shares and follows; your future minion is just around the corner.
Borderlands 4 is generating buzz, and for those who prefer console gaming, you can also enjoy similar experiences on PlayStation and Xbox.
