Arguably, Bloodborne is still to this day one of the highest-rated and most critically acclaimed PlayStation 4 exclusives, more than five years after its launch. Surprisingly, it’s still Hidetaka Miyazaki favorite amongst other titles like the recent Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and other Souls games.
While this title had been a significant success, fans have had one major complaint—performance. When the PlayStation 4 Pro console launched in November 2016, fans thought Bloodborne would have gotten some improvements as other titles, well, that never occurred.
After waiting for so long, it seems a fix might be on the way. Australian modder Lance McDonald who normally unveils secrets and fixes, like Dark Souls, P.T, and many others, claims to have “patched” Bloodborne to run at 60 FPS.
While it came with its downsides like frame timing issues, he later fixed on the PlayStation 4 Pro.
I patched Bloodborne to run at 60fps. It works alright (about as good as the Dark Souls 3 PS4 Pro patch does) except for the fact that the game doesn't have proper timing and the entire game basically runs in fast-forward. This is running on a base PS4. pic.twitter.com/vfdjjWxpp5

Ah, I did it! Bloodborne running with a 60fps frame cap (no v-sync so lots of screen tearing) with proper frame timing and game logic timing. This is running on a base PS4 pro, will try to get an actual FPS counter to display tomorrow and test on PS4 Pro with boost mode. pic.twitter.com/V6uxQ4bT9k

Also, Lance realized that activating Boost Mode in the PS4 Pro’s settings could even enhance performance to this 60 FPS patch.
See the footage below:
Holy crap I just tried it with boost mode and it's a MASSIVE leap. I'll get some good quality footage and put it on YouTube after I sleep.

Just as Lance thought, it was easier to maintain 60 frames per second after he tried to drop the render resolution to 720p from the standard 1080p.

I went one step further and patched Bloodborne to run at 720p instead of 1080p. It seems to hold 60fps really nice this way. Once again, this is all captured on a PS4 Pro running with Boost Mode enabled. Here's a little bit of footage showing it off: https://t.co/SPCQX1obII

There’s still more fixing of bugs to be done.
See the footage below:
Okay, fixed the blood/effects now so enjoy a video while I work on fixing some other smaller bugs, here's Bloodborne's "Father Gascoigne" boss fight running at 60fps on a PS4 Pro at 720p rendering resolution. It's quite a treat. https://t.co/8C5AkLchR9

Hopefully, McDonald will drop this new patch for Bloodborne’s performance once the bugs are fixed. Check back for more updates on when Lance launches the patch!
