Blizzard is hard at work keeping everything tuned up as they work towards the November 23rd release of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. With less than three weeks left to go, Blizzard barely needs to do anything to keep the hype going.

But why would that stop them? The more people interested, the better, and Blizzard is always interested in bringing more people into the world of World of Warcraft, whether they’re returning or coming for the first time.

To that end, they’ve announced a special giveaway for players that were here before and left for other pastures. Players with inactive accounts – accounts that no longer have an active subscription, mostly – have been granted full access to the game once more.

“Shadowlands is nearly here, and you and your allies are needed back on the front lines,” Blizzard wrote in their announcement. “This weekend, we’re giving all players with inactive World of Warcraft accounts full access to the game and all of your characters without a subscription.”

This promotion is active starting today, November 5th, and will continue on through the weekend of November 9th. Players are being given full access to the title’s latest expansion, meaning no content is unreachable!

It isn’t only players with inactive accounts, it seems. Blizzard directly addresses new players that may need to learn the ropes, giving them the new Exile’s Reach starting experience to help get into the action quickly.

“Players who have already experienced Battle for Azeroth and reached level 50 on at least one character can choose to level any subsequent characters in a different expansion using Timewalking Campaigns,” Blizzard states.

Discussing this new Chromie Time leveling mechanic, Blizzard highlights the new leveling experience as one of the quicker ways to get back into the content. Quickness is important, since this promotion only lasts for four days!

It’s a wonderful gesture from Blizzard to allow full, unfettered access to the title at no cost to players that might’ve had their eye on the title with the upcoming expansion. While obviously the hope is that players will remain subbed after the 9th, making it completely free was a wonderful move.

As we get closer and closer to the Shadowlands release, we’re likely to see a bit of a surge in the player base as a result of this promotion. Whether you’re a new player or simply returning to the title, there’s no better time to get into the fight!
