The World of Warcraft community has spent the last few months screaming at Blizzard at every turn – which, admittedly, isn’t a change of pace. This time around, though, the players had a very reasonable demand – account-wide essences.

If you haven’t played in the most recent patches of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, you might be unfamiliar with essences. Essentially, they’re one of the many grinds necessary for endgame characters. Unfortunately, the grind is so tedious that it effectively ends any interest for the majority of players to create several characters, as repeating the grind on multiple characters is a chore at best.

Thankfully, Blizzard has decided to add account-wide essences with a new currency, Echoes of Ny’alotha. Securing enough of these essences will allow a player to purchase Rank 3 essences on their other characters – assuming they’ve already obtained it on at least one toon.

Players will have to obtain 500 Echoes of Ny’alotha to purchase an essence that has been unlocked by another character. The following methods and values will be the best ways to obtain the currency:

  • Black Empire Assault – 125 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Aqir/Amathet/Mantid/Mogu Assault – 75 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Horrific Visions – 50 Echoes of Ny’alotha, with 25 additional per objective (150 echoes for a full clear)
  • Emissary Quest – 50 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Heroic Darkshore Warfront – 75 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Normal/Heroic/Mythic Ny’alotha Raid Bosses – 15-25 Echoes of Ny’alotha each, once per week per boss
  • Ny’alotha Raid Finder wings – 25 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Rated Arena wins – 10-25 Echoes of Ny’alotha
  • Rated Battleground wins – 35 Echoes of Ny’alotha baseline, scaling up with PvP rank
  • Weekly PvP Cache – 175 to 300 Echoes of Ny’alotha, based on PvP rank
  • Mythic Keystone dungeon end-of-run chest – 3 Echoes of Ny’alotha per Keystone Level (i.e. 30 Echoes of Ny’alotha for a Mythic 10)
  • Weekly Mythic Keystone Cache – 20 Echoes of Ny’alotha per highest Keystone Level

So, as it shows, there’s a huge amount of ways to earn a considerable number of Echoes of Ny’alotha swiftly. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you prefer PvE or PvP, you shouldn’t have much of an issue stocking up a good bit of the new currency soon.

Blizzard states that the general goal is for assaults and associated Horrific Visions to provide enough to get at least one Rank 3 essence of your choice per week. Doing other activities in addition to this should give you the ability to earn essences rather quickly.  Within a couple of weeks of hitting 120 on your alt, your preferred essences should be completely obtainable if you’ve put in the now-much-smaller amount of time to obtain them.
