Fortnite has again made a loud declaration. The game succeeded to do another major anime collaboration, this time with the legendary titular series Bleach. The full in-game trailer has been released, and the players are going nuts over it. The buzz is not just talking; it is going on everywhere. If you were to think that the cooperation with Naruto or Dragon Ball were the maximum, then you need to look at the island where Ichigo Kurosaki is, with his Zanpakuto.
What is the verdict? The leak from HYPEX shows us the entire picture of skins along with the items that will come to the Item Shop. We have Ichigo, Rukia, Orihime, and Kisuke Urahara. The character designs are very close to the show, and that’s a big plus for the fans. But as usual, the community has a lot to say, and not all of it is just fun and games. There is confusion, demands, and a whole lot of people wanting to know the price.
First thing first, the overall look. The skins are really something and they are top quality. One gamer, Nikk, nailed it: ‘You can tell this was made for fans. Clean, faithful, fire.’ It is true. The world of Fortnite appears to be very close to that anime style without making it look hard or weird. Even, the character of Orihime has a back bling basket containing a loaf of bread, which is a very clever and humorous detail that was pointed out by StardustDuelist. Those are the great small things, you know?
But of course, with any big collaboration, the first questions will be targeting the absences. A number of players have started already to point out the absence of a few things among what they have already mentioned as existing features. Vanilla was asking about Rukia’s Zanpakuto, Sode no Shirayuki, and whether it was a pickaxe or part of her bundle that was his concern. Another user, Jppm07, was a bit disappointed that we got Rukia in her newer Bankai form from the recent anime but Ichigo isn’t in his later True Shikai getup with the double swords. ‘I was soooo hyped to get true shikai Ichigo and his fit so fin clean,’ deadpoollou69 echoed. It is that classic gamer thing where you are excited but also wish for the next even cooler version.
Then the price mystery pops up. This is invariably the most crucial matter. The comment section is full of people like LeCon_X simply shouting, ‘JUST TELL ME HOW MUCH ITLL COST.’ Mischief830 has a guess that it could be one massive bundle that you are allowed to buy once only, with no single purchases allowed. If so, it would be a very big deal. And crepastero just inquired HYPEX, ‘How is the price?’ There is that waiting for replies, but you know everyone is watching their V-Bucks balance.
On the flip side, not everybody is into anime. Josh was quite frank when he said: ‘I DONT CARE ABOUT ANIME SKINS THEY ARE ASS NO ONE CARES.’ Which is somewhat fair because not every collaboration is for every single player. However, the general response seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Ayomide from Solana cracked a joke, ‘Fortnite really said: If it’s peak anime, we want it. 💀🔥’ It indeed seems like Epic is merely capturing all the biggest shonen series at this point.
A few other funny comments were made in the comments section as well. Invjolt, for instance, saw a bald character model in the background and speculated if ‘Mr. Clean’ was the secret fifth skin. And, as it always happens with every major release, there is always one person asking about a different collaboration—MGRaidenEnjoyer is here asking, ‘Where’s Metal Gear wave 2?’ Sorry, mate, but today is all about Soul Reapers.
The matter of whether they are going to sell skins only or whether they will improve gameplay was brought to light by direumatteul, it being one of the more interesting discussions. It is a reasonable inquiry. The events draw a lot of people who want to get their hands on the skins and experience the theme, but would it actually make the core game better? For a lot of players, it is just an extra thing. The gameplay is the reason they stay, but collaborations are the reasons they get excited and spend their money.
Then there was a faint drama. Pumper141818 has been critical of Epic’s marketing strategies and voiced his opinion saying, ‘Hopefully this one’s better than your dog ass winterfest showcase💀.’ Ouch! Cheerup2147, however, defended the Bleach adaptation, asserting that “This is how you adapt anime skins,” while another commenter wished for more PlayStation exclusives to get similar treatment. Meanwhile, on a completely different platform, fans are making Xbox Game Pass jokes about playing Fallout while watching the show.
