There have been huge dumps of information for COD fans regarding the newest Black Ops 7 Zombies Mode 7, augmenting how Treyarch really wants to emphasize the Augment system. The official Call of Duty Twitter account had let out gameplay features with 66 new Augments, bringing the total number to 192. That’ll also bring with it an additional Major, additional Minor Augment type, and a second slot for Minor Augments—now that’s something huge to consider.”

Pre-orders are also allowed for Early Access to Black Ops 7 Beta, where players can play the Black Ops 7 Zombies Survival Mode. The traditional CoD way, but the whole Augments stuff seems to be dominating conversations.

Initial reactions ranged anywhere from pure hype to those with the usual skepticism of the CoD community. ‘ErrlShatter’ stated simply: “2x minor augments goes crazy!” Honestly, it does. Just having two minor buffs could change your entire strategies and loadouts. Then a guy going by ‘itsmistahhjayy’ was even more appreciative of the devs, commenting: “Thank u for adding the ability to use more minor augments!!” So core Zombies players are literally delighted with the extra flexibility.

Going back a little, to the not-so hyped side. There would be no CoD reveal without alt voices. The honest reality check from ‘Vitin Figueroa’ was, “And 1,960 new gameplay bugs”. That’s a fair point really, as it somehow seems every major update is shipped along with its glitches. Then ‘GRIZZ Viollent’ completely lost it attacking the franchise while reacting to the Black Ops 7 Multiplayer reveal: “Ya’ll need a miracle to save the franchise after that BO7 Multiplayer release, my god! Views are massively down… That MP trailer was a huge and I mean huge mistake.” So clearly the Zombies enhancements are carrying a huge burden from the dissenting voices here.

Now, there really was quite a bit of hype in the replies over what exactly is locked behind the pre-order. ‘RespawnPlays’ put it simply: “So if we don’t pre order, then we cant play zombies?” Fortunately, another user named ‘BenBart30’ got in with an explanation. It will give pre-orders early access to the beta. There will be a later stage where anyone can play the beta for free, and the full game has Zombies for everyone at launch anyway. He also said that you can get a beta code by watching the ‘COD Next’ event for an hour, which is a pretty neat fallback.

The conversation then got more specific on hopes from gameplay: “Hoping Augments stay active in Cursed Mode” from ‘XpertFusion,’ deep-cut fodder for the real players. Keeping that momentum for ‘Trashmann935,’ who is already thinking ahead: “Hope we get a second major augment slot”. Maybe in a future update, who knows.

And then the usual operator requests came in. ‘ItzKieran’ said, “Give us Samantha maxis as an operator!! Don’t make the seasonal new operators related to warzone again, do zombies instead pls”. And ‘BearPig Central’ has a very specific demand: “Please allow carry foward I want to use my Beavis skin day 1!!” The yearning for content carry over from previous games is a never-ending theme.

Some players are just happy to finally have a comeback. ‘Droma’ tweeted: “This isn’t zombies anymore but I’m glad we’re getting survival and round based stuff back in general.” Hinting at the chasm of players that liked the classic round-based survival and those that might be on the opposite side, more in favor of the new objective-style Zombie experiences. It looks like Treyarch is aiming for both.

So, what does all this bode for? Treyarch is going to pack Black Ops 7 Zombies with an insane amount of customization through the Augment system. 192 total Augments is insane, and adding in that second minor slot unleashes so many new combinations. It shows they are listening to the community with players stating they want more depth, and replayability. Pre-order gets you into the beta, though all the juicy bits are hidden deep inside these new systems. It’ll be interesting to see if that is enough to bring back those disappointed by the multiplayer reveal. But for Zombies, that is certainly a strong enough hint to be optimistic. Fingers crossed that the beta comes soon enough to witness the analysis of these new systems and whether those 1,960 bugs finally rear their ugly heads after all.
