Now, gamer, lay in like a kid in a candy store. Here goes the hype train from the dot: to jump or not! Activision today announced a worldwide reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in three weeks, whereas gamescom is bowing it off. And, well, reactions have… been mixed.
First of all, let’s get this right: the reveal price. The only official mention we have ever had on Black Ops 7 was a big one. Gamescom might have a handful of announcements lined up, but COD stated answers for itself. Or tried to. Half of the community, as a response to CharlieINTEL’s tweet, were already gearing for the event as if counting days till Christmas, and the other half are sharpening their pitchforks.
Soulbound.TV basically states: “3 weeks to go… and I’m already counting down like it’s Christmas 🎅.” On the contrary, LACEUP_ is having none of it, muttering, “Black Ops 6.5 basically an update they are gonna charge 80 dollars for…..” Yikes!
That gave rise to the debate Battlefield 6 vs. Black Ops 7. Replies from gentlemen like Travis8187 and KC_4191 are staking their claims and name Battlefield 6 as the winner before either game is officially released. “Battlefield 6 clears,” says Travis, whereas KC_4191 quips, “Battlefield 6 is taking the win.” Well, some gamers are *really* over COD’s annual cycle.
Then we can’t ignore the biggest other thing—the *skins.* DexideVX begs to say “Please no more cartoons.” Meanwhile, Ene George drops the cold hard truth: “All the skins from BO6 will be carried over to BO7. They confirmed this.” So the neon clown outfit hatred expressed for Black Ops 6 will now be extended to Black Ops 7; sorry! John. (yes, just John.) chimes in trolling: “I speak for everyone when I say we need more cartoon skins and dancing emotes 🙌🏼,” which is either sarcasm or a cry for help.
Then there’s *drama*. Pixolator wrote a *novel* of a response accusing Activision of banning players from going AFK in Plunder and accusing them of breaching their own policies. It’s a whole thing-thousands of words demanding accountability. Meanwhile, after XxAsylumxX_ punctuated it with a phase: “Shit will be dead within 2-3 months. No new Warzone map either smh.”
Some like Samantha J. Foster Composer are yet hopeful that a good campaign shall arise; then there’s Evie, who is done: “No one cares about call of duty recycled trash BO7 other than Shillintel.” Brutal.
Now, where does this put us? Three weeks from now right into the reveal, and the COD community is an absolute chaos. Black Ops 7: that would be the resurgence of the glory days, or just another reskin? Now, is Battlefield 6 then going to snatch all the limelight? Most importantly—will there be *more* dancing clown skins?
Only time will tell. But you can bet on August 19 being an absolute wild card!
So, put that date down in your calendars, set your alarms, and wish not to expect too much. Or don’t. Either way, it’s gonna be a show.
