Alright, Xbox world, celebrate. Black Myth Wukong will be released on the Xbox Series X|S officially on August 20. Yes, you heard it right. After what felt like forever of delays and speculations, that much-anticipated action RPG is finally going to Microsoft’s consoles.
So what about the delay? Well, that has been the question tormenting gamers for months. Some thought that it was an excuse to be airported on PlayStation for a while, while others blamed the Series S for being a hindrance to release. And honestly, the replies to that announcement tweet went all haywire. @TheRedEntityX commented, “Finally, the 1-year exclusive deal is over? Oh excuse me, “development problems for the Series S” as over?” Oof.
With biting sarcasm, @The_Stebe reminded of the precise one-year interval lag between the PS5 and Xbox release dates with said sarcasm, “So it WASN’T the Series S fault after all.” Meanwhile, @Markyslights decided to get frank: “Sony paid for exclusivityyy lol😂” and then proceeded to trample all over social decorum.
Then there are ones who lay aside the whole console war drama and are just really thrilled that the game is finally coming to the public. @Artic_Gamer declared: “I have seen gameplay of it and it looks good. Plus it teaches me a little about the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West.” While @voyageur2imagin took it all the way into the exotic by labeling it a “masterpiece” of an adaptation of this centuries-old Chinese epic.
Of course, we had to get that one guy—@i_rossoneri13—who had to come and say, “Nobody cares, we all are waiting for Witcher 4.” Okay, pal.
The terribly interesting question goes on: Is an Xbox player going to spend money on it? And @Krytopsy lays a very valid argument as to why fans should support this port to get more devs to see Xbox as worth bringing their games to. On the other hand, @Awkward_HS said, “If it’s not on Game Pass, eight people will buy it.” Brutal.
Speaking of Game Pass—well, no news yet. @KGeN_Community bluntly asked, “Gamepass any chance? Asking for my wallet.” Fair.
So, in summation: whether for the mythic combat, the breathtaking visuals, or just to aggravate the Sony fans, August 20 will be a great day for Xbox players. Now maybe we can finally shift the blame of Series S being the problem.(Spoiler: It probably wasn’t.)
So, put it on your calendars, make those reminders, and get ready: Sun Wukong has now made its way to Xbox! And it will be one crazy ride!
