Bethesda’s players are now to be given some free in-game items for both Fallout 76 and Starfield. If they sign up for Bethesda‘s marketing emails during the limited-time offer, players can claim the Vault 21 Jumpsuit and a Joshua Tree decoration for Fallout 76, and a Battle-Hardened Beowolf weapon skin for Starfield.

Then, the game company awarded a little gift to those gamers who still spend their time in the post-apocalyptic world of Appalachia and those who are on the way to the stars in the Settled Systems. And the gift consisted of the classic Vault 21 Jumpsuit for Fallout 76, a Joshua Tree camp item, and the ‘Battle-Hardened Beowolf’ weapon skin for Starfield, which is really nice and cool. The only condition is that you have to sign up for their emails. That’s all! You just exchange your inbox for some digital swag. The link for the offer is already up and running, but you have to act fast before the window closes.

It isn’t a typical Bethesda’s move to start with? It sums up very nicely the scenario in which Bethesda manages to increase its mailing list while at the same time giving a minor hint to the players. Besides, free is free. The Vault 21 Jumpsuit is a great way to recall the old games—Vault 21 was underneath New Vegas and eventually became a hotel. Hence, it is a nice little piece of lore that you can wear. The Joshua Tree is a camp decoration but it can also be said that you have some post-apocalyptic flora in your C.A.M.P. Then the skin for Starfield comes out to be an awesome ‘Battle-Hardened Beowolf’ skin. It looks… actually very cool. Quite rugged, as if it has been through many tough battles.

But once the tweet was posted, the replies went crazy. And it was not only a ‘thank you for the free stuff’ kind of reaction. Oh no. It is rarely that with Bethesda fans—sorry, players. The response was a mixture of excitement, bewilderment, and outright requests for more items.

Amongst the chaotic tweets, one could see happy faces. A user named Jennifer Abernathy replied, ‘Got mine’ while another user named Glitchy 🪄 commented ‘Vault 21 Jumpsuit! Classic. Totally worth signing up for the emails’. So the positive crowd is there. But then… chaos started.

To a large extent, the replies were about almost everything but the free stuff. It was just like the tweet attracted every remaining question and complaint in the Bethesda universe. A user named Addamis wondered, ‘Hey @bethesda is elder scroll 6 a fairy tale?’ Ouch. Alex Bertin politely questioned, ‘When is the December patch for Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X|S coming, please?’ Saber Mariwan kicked off with a common Starfield worry: “There has been no news on Starfield lately… Are we going to be silent until 2026? A good update is needed… death to this game by Bethesda”

Next up, players started making demands. A user with the id Powerstrokin247 sent a plea: “End the Fortnite fallout saga! For the love of Adam, give us Fallout 5 or 3/NV remake, please!” DMF GAMING resorted to caps lock: ‘Terrible! Another Deco And Suit Given To One Game While A Skin Is Given To Another?! WTH Is Wrong With You!?!? DELIVERER NOW HK NOW REMINGTON NOW, HI-POWER 1911 NOW MARIA NOW!!!!’ The message is clear: some players prefer new games and specific weapons rather than cosmetic emails.

The weirdest part of the discussion was the confusion and hope around cross-game. For some players, the tweet was not clear at all. SpartanC73 confessed, ‘For a moment I thought this was a Halo tweet and that was a new kit for the BR75.’ Others were upset about the separation based on the game. User PorqueQuince remarked, ‘The Fallout 76 freebies? Okay 👍 The Starfield skin? Oh, nothing,’ possibly feeling that Starfield did not get its fair share.

But the most entertaining thread initiated by Jessica-Star ✨ (SleepisforT). She replied and tagged another user saying she had a PS5 and just Fallout 76 and was hoping for a weapon skin for that game. This led to a little conversation about crossover dreams. Carly GB replied, ‘Same!!! Damn I wanted to rock that jumpsuit in New Atlantis! 😆’ Eric Gold (engold08) also chimed in, ‘That would be amazing! Can you imagine? I know there are people out there who have a theory that Fallout and Starfield are in the same universe.’
