Starting with the official multiplayer reveal set for 11:30 AM PT on July 31, the gaming community has been going on overdrive after the announcement. A hype train has left the station and is at full speed down the tracks.
Well… what’s the deal? EA and DICE are finally going to show their resplendent instalment in the Battlefield franchise. This, if all the buzz from the rumor mill, leaksters, and the groundswell of interest means anything, would split the player base from Call Of Duty-the way hardcore Battlefield 6 fans would wish it to.
But, honestly, the discussion between Battlefield and Call Of Duty ever existed. Or, at least, this is of the age when online shooters came into existence. And now… well, let’s just say things are not great. Some players out there are desperately looking for an exit, with the questionable bans raining down on them, the hostility of broken mechanics, and downright fatigued release of an annual title. Here comes Battlefield 6 to the rescue.
The reaction to that announcement tweet is a wild blend of hype, skepticism, and plain crazy. The gamers are all in, and one of them, @Soranitys, just said, “We will be there 🫡.” @EastCoastHandle, though, has already begun the complaint, “This will go south real fast if they don’t remove the ADS bloom.” For those who don’t know, ADS bloom is a weapon mechanic for accuracy while aiming down the sights and can really make or break a shooter feel.
Then there is the whole issue of Battle Royale. @SlavAncient stated boldly, “I want BF6 BR reveal!!!” With the current state of Warzone, a Battlefield BR could probably completely change the game. Or at least give perspective to the fun.
But not everybody is yet willing to go for that. @25inkslinger gave probably the coldest take from today: “Battlebit was more fun than battlefield ever was.” Ouch! For anyone who hasn’t played, Battlebit Remastered is a low-poly, large-scale shooter picking up steam in recent times. And yes, it really is that fun!
Meanwhile, real talk starts between COD and Battlefield. @AnGotti219 went ahead to say, “2042 felt like milsim but didn’t feel arcadey like COD does.” But almost immediately, @YaboiHoxen hits back with, “2042 isn’t BF, it’s COD with horrible giant-sized maps.” And that, uh… messy is underselling it.
And then there is the! Hope! “I just need a good FPS game,” @GabrielHoyle4 said. Same here, dude. Same.
Undoubtedly, what’s going to happen tomorrow: more mechanics, more maps, and maybe, just maybe, a beta test announcement. @OceanTse is already asking, “Hope we will have a date for open beta.” Fingers crossed.
One thing to note: after on how 2042 came up, Battlefield 6 is a game with much to prove. Should they nail that reveal, you would quite some of the community calling back to them. Otherwise… Battlebit is riotously answering.
Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and pray to the gaming gods that this one doesn’t flop. July 31 will be an interesting day!
