Alright, it’s a hot topic, so hold on to your goggles! A new alleged leak is hitting the Internet: a sneak peek at what could be the Battle Royale map for this game. While on this topic, the hot current buzz is the possibility that the BR might go free to play, considering it will launch after the main game. Did I say that?
From the leaked photos exchanged by Twitter user @temporyal, here we have a sprawling urban warfare zone with multiple POIs. Gamers have been going around comparing it to Blackout from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4; some see it just like a Conquest map with glitz. Well, maybe not.
The other bit of science here is that the BR mode might be free-to-play. That is a big deal since free always stays hip. But not everyone can be sold. One reply said, “Free-to-play? More like free-to-rage.” Ouch.
Woah, reactions were quite divergent. Some expressed enthusiasm for it, with Wu-Rich saying it could “save them for sure” if movement mechanics are tweaked. Then there was Blarg asking “Why are they wasting time on this?” followed by TheYellingKitty’s “The BR Era has to end I can’t be arsed with it anymore man.”
Two other hit points go into whether Battlefield even needs a BR mode. Opponents see it taking away resources from core multiplayer (cough i_prizma cough), while others, like JMfiveohnine, saying that “It’s almost like a BR mode and multiplayer can BOTH exist.” Fair enough.
But, here’s the real gossip: Players are already calling out possible issues. EastCoastHandle, for instance, mentioned hit registration as well as ADS Bloom issues from BF2042 beta and warned that should these issues carry over, the BR might entirely be DOA. And then comes the ever-fitting question of cheats as Kurzay1 is asking if that anti-cheat is going to really work this time.
So, are we in for a verdict? Too early to call, actually. Map promising, yet whether it will actually be able to shine in the sea of BRs (especially looking at you, Warzone), another story. Let’s not even forget-this is still rumor-ville. Yet to hear anything from EA or DICE.
If nothing else is certain, one thing that is: wherever the mode ends up, if they drop it as a Free-to-play option, they will pour enormous numbers in to play. Will the masses stick around? That is the real war.
For now, keep an eye out for more leaks, maybe one announcement soon. Then again, maybe not! You never know how far gaming rumors might take you.
And hey, if you’re already tired of BRs, there’ll be no one forcing you to play this. But if you’re shouting, “Heck yeah, gimme that Battlefield 6 BR!” better get ready. This will either be the best thing since sliced bread or another white elephant. Place your bets.
