A recent tweet by the fans online talking about Avatar: The Last Airbender provides an unclear sign that raises all kinds of speculations about some new game that could be launching pretty soon.
The fandom has been going berserk over a tweet that only stated “water. earth. air. fire.” and as well contained some very strange link to make matter worst, nothing has been announced, but the timing and phrasing are just too artfully orchestrated to be coincidental.
The fundamental four elements are paired with Avatar’s universe, and putting all four together seems like a deliberate drop. Is this a shout-out for a game? Remastering the Nickelodeon tie-ins?
Perhaps something totally different? Because there isn’t a single context, craziness goes on in the minds of fans, and the media attached to the tweet looks like it could be (and really should be) just a placeholder.
Right now, that space is an absolute desert: no official comments, no leaks, just sheer speculation. But if history is any guide, oblique hints tend to point to major activity in blockbuster franchises such as Avatar. Turning new heads with Netflix all over again, the original series is also gearing up for a live-action treatment and thus, the wise thing to do would be to add a new game.
The last major Avatar game was also from 2014, The Legend of Korra, by PlatinumGames, which was a fun brawler yet missed the intricacies of the animated show. At the same time, fans are hoping for a greater open-world title where they would choose a bending style or a better story-driven adventure involving Avatar lore.
So now we can only wait. But this tweet suggests it might not be for too long. The elements are calling; let’s pray this isn’t only yet another money scheme for mobile devices.
And hey, if it just turns out to be a random little tweet, with no follow-up in sight… well, that’s the most disappointing bending move since The Great Divide episode.
