The team Ubisoft practically gave us a bombshell recap of an Assassin’s Creed Shadows Reddit AMA, and well, the community exploded with random requests: legacy outfits, the ability to control the weather, begging for Valhalla updates in 2024?? The devs did come to the scene to answer questions about their adventure in feudal Japan, but it seemed that players had much more on their mind than just Shadows.

So early in the session, things came up such that: legacy outfits never got a mention?? How do you even let that pass in an Assassin’s Creed community?? One member named @Faka1313 cried out, “How come no one asked about the fucking Legacy Outfits? ffs,” sending such a valiant vibe. The outfit dilemma has been something players have wanted for bringing those classic robes into modern games for almost forever now. Another user, @Incredabun, joined the chorus: “At this point bring back the legacy system we use to have skins from every previous game,” which would, yeah, be pretty sweet.

But if it was just up to Valhalla, it was going to be some insane begging. People, including @BloomyLuna and @TurtlesTweets_, have been begging for a New Game+ in Valhalla. As in, guys, it’s been years! @qtry95: asks “for expansions just like valhalla,” while taking seven full days off work to play at 5 AM…(with a big jug full of hot nescafe)” and that sounded downright wicked.

There were crazy questions requested for Shadows as well: Can I make it rain all day in my playthrough? Which, like… why? Japan is beautiful in the sunshine, my dude. @TSincere04 wanted Yagoro to assassinate targets instead of just throwing kunai, which is indeed a good point, and sounds more assassin-like. And @Milktub69 all but sold out throwing knife economics as they ranted about kunai pickup rates and tool consumption.

Mostly though, it was players begging to bring back the classic Assassin’s elements. @sentinelzer01 said they wanted “more Templar focused content.” @kevinagb7_ thought it was “pretty obvious the Assassins vs Templars would be expanded upon in future DLC.” @NephilimCry demanded in all caps “MORE ASSASSIN’S VS TEMPLARS,” which is basically the cornerstone of the franchise.

Some people lamented the lack of a discovery mode, something recent ACs had for educational value. @ChosoOniichan said with crying emojis: “This was the most excited thing for me, to await an AC in Japan setting, to have this documentary mode.” Then @BehindYouTehe dropped an unsolicited suggestion to revive multiplayer; I mean, that’s a different conversation, my dude.

@Ras_Al_Him laughed at the whole thing: “What we wanted: A Black Flag Remake reveal at gamescom that’s live right now. You: QnA shit from last week.” OK, fair, but also harsh, dude.

That said, the split in the community lies between asking for brand new features and begging to resurrect old ones. So, are you asking for revolutionary weather control systems or the counter ability from Black Flag? You probably can’t have both now. But the devs did confirm they are taking the feedback seriously, which is great because some of these requests are… very specific.

Can we please just discuss how every clown keeps misspelling “assassin’s” like it’s some kind of collective learning disability?? I saw three different variations in just the replies alone. So anyway, the AMA just proved how passionate every single player is about the franchise even when they’re bitching about things from games four years in the past. Ubisoft has a big task in trying to please everybody, but hey, Ubisoft actually engages with the community; that’s a very large tick in their favor as compared to some other studios.

This whole saga just proves that the Assassin’s Creed fans never forget. The fan base will be asking for the same features year after year until they finally get them, whether they’re legacy outfits, better stealth mechanics, or just the ability to make it rain on command. The AC community knows exactly what it wants and backs it by consistently voicing those requests on multiple game releases. I suppose this is what will determine whether any of that actually gets in Shadows or the very next game, but at least the AMA shows us a pretty interesting insight as to what happens when players have first-line access to the devs.
