The hype train for the new Assassin’s Creed Shadows is full speed ahead as Ubisoft tweets another one about some serious skills in combat. From “Strike down your enemies!” to the promises of teaching players how to walk like a shinobi and hit like a samurai, it strikes all right with us. And we are definitely here for it!
Then of course there was a link to a full video (Ubisoft loves their cinematic trailers), but that is not really the question anymore… what tricks are we talking about here? Stealth kills? Swordplay combos? Or some next-gen parkour to make Ezio look as though he was moving in slow-motion?
The tweet is keeping everything very cryptic, but with the hashtag #AssassinsCreedShadows, the limelight certainly shines bright on the upcoming Japan-based installation.
Here’s what’s weird, though: this tweet has no replies. Not a single one. Nada. Which would… not be an AC-like thing. Fans usually flood the comments with excitement, skepticism, or plain annoying questions like, where’s Bastim? However, this? Crickets!
Seriously, everyone’s probably busy just going back to rewatch the trailer, frame by frame, so they can push such thoughts out of their minds, or the algorithm buried it quicker than a hidden blade in a haystack.
In any case, the lack of buzz for the tweet doesn’t, by any means, mean that people aren’t interested. The franchise is sure to have a die-hard following, and Shadows seems to be easily evolving into one of its prettily packaged iterations.
A dual-protagonist setup would really make for a dream gameplay figure; if this tweet is anything to go by, the advanced combat promises to feature one of the deepest AC combat systems since… well, ever.
What’s next? Probably some teasers dripped seamlessly until Ubisoft feels like dropping another full breakdown? Or possibly a thorough discussion about the skill trees?
Either way, for the unfortunate few who can drag their enemies to the end of their world, enjoy! And do somebody a favor and respond already—let’s break the silence.
For real though, how many swords have we bought through this game over the years that we’ll never really put to use?
