Just the other day, Ubisoft shared unexpected news that would excite the followers of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game. The upcoming Valley of Memory update coming out on 18th November will bring not only new content but also a high amount of gameplay enhancements along with the extension of the free content. The base game will get a remarkable boost resulting in more players coming back to Mirage.

The news came from the official Twitter account of Assassin’s Creed who also hinted at a “deeper dive” for players to explore regarding all the changes going to take place. The community’s reaction has been mixed but mostly lying in the positive spectrum.

One of the gamers called Ar-Korrigan even say “I am really expecting some new Mirage content. Shadows was not my cup of tea.” This is rather surprising considering Shadows was the most recent game, however, tastes vary. Another user, MR PROGRAM, couldn’t contain his excitement about the new costume and commented, “Looking really good! D8gg8ng that new outfit!” plus some more frantic typing on his keyboard.

But there is an issue that players are not totally taking the Mirage news to make completely different requests. One user, borisskyman took a long, and at times ranting, route of complaints saying “Please remake Assassin’s Creed II before the end of 2029! 20-year anniversary!” Come on dude, that is pushing it a bit; we are just talking about updates for Mirage and not planning releases for 2029. Then he went on saying, “also if you were to remake Assassin’s Creed II, we would get this glove that we saw during the E3 development footage instead of the metal gear hidden blade” and I really got lost in that sentence structure but I guess the passion is there?

The discussions became quite heated at times. User Leslie Vernon made a comparison that got me baffled: “with mirage i was hurrying to finish it. with unity im taking my time to 100%. why is this” Well, why are we comparing Mirage to Unity now? That game was released in 2014! The AC community indeed has long memories.

Along with that, users also mentioned experiencing technical issues. SK-HYJINX pointed out: “Can you fix the bad frame pacing of the cinematics that are stuck at 31 fps and are shaking every 1.5 seconds? It would be nice for us to know you care about how the game is presented to new players.” Ouch! Sounds like you have a solid explanation for a technical issue there but it still is a valid complaint if it happens to be true.

To a certain degree, the lack of free-running improvements seems to be a hot topic. User Higgs exclaimed, “These new changes look sweet! The fluidity of the parkour is 🔥,” which is great news as free-running has always been one of the main attractions of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Nonetheless, BigExtraDip had some caveats, “from now on, all parkour updates released for Mirage and Shadows must be included in all next AC games from the very beginning, rather than added as part of post-release support.” That’s… actually a reasonable request? Like why should even the most basic movement improvements be relegated to post-launch content?

After that, there was TheMobShockwave who only said “Valhalla style gameplay ruined the game” and then dropped the issue without giving any further explanations. Okay, cool. Then, Bifur_hunter made an offhand remark about “It gives Valhalla a new game plus” which… uh, pardon? But we are discussing Mirage, right? The conversation threads got intertwined really quickly.

Even the official account of Amazon Luna jumped in and wrote, “We love to see it 👏” which I guess is a nice affirmation when other players notice your updates and if it is so, it is still a sign of being supportive.

What is quite surprising is the number of gamers that have been making this Mirage announcement as a reason to talk about everything but Mirage. People are demanding remakes of Assassin’s Creed 1, AC2, Far Cry 3, Prince of Persia,… Just wow, is there a lack of game concepts or what? On the other hand, Alexandre, the game, made a brave proclamation “I got the platinum trophy 5 days ago! I’m ready for the new adventure 👌🏻”, which is actually on-point in the discussion!

The Valley of Memory update coming on November 18 which is not only a content plus but also a gameplay and graphical improvement has ignited this whole debate regarding the future direction of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Some players are asking the series to go back to its original tale, while others are demanding ceaseless innovations, and still, there are those who simply enjoy new costumes and parkour upgrades. Zinney was right on: “Take what Mirage did and is doing here in regards
