Through their Assassin’s Creed Day festivities, Ubisoft really appreciated the entire gaming community. Players’ feedback was, however, quite mixed: some felt nostalgic while others were eager to know if there are any new titles and remakes coming up. The Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed social media page made a post thanking the players and recalling the memories made together while also talking about the future adventures. However, the comment section quickly revealed that while the players were nice and polite, the main thing they were concerned about was the future of the franchise—especially the long-rumored projects such as the Black Flag remake and updates for older games.

What actually is Assassin’s Creed Day, to be very precise? It is a date that was chosen by the fans, one that they will regularly worship wildly the whole series related to the famous stealth-action games. Ubisoft this year played the card of their fanbase and at the same time, published a beautiful picture with a message saying “Happy #ACDay, Assassins!” They have spoken about the players, their celebration of the players, and the sharing of the memories. It was a nice little post to the community. But you know how gamers are—they see an open comments section and it’s like an endless shopping list of demands. And wow, that list was really long.

The first, and I mean first, reaction from a massive part of the replies was a cry of one voice: “Where is the Black Flag remake?” It was no joke, it was everywhere. Comments like “Give us black flag already” from user @lerixx911 and “Where black flag remake” from @SoySilent set the mood. Another player, @Crimsonkiller21, was very straightforward: “Just announce black flag and be done with it. We’re over Shadows and need a real assassins creed game.” Oh, that hurts. That feeling about getting through the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows was shared by some, and thus, there is a division of what the players are now most excited about.

Nevertheless, the request for a remake of Black Flag was not the sole one. The Timeless classic had also created a great desire for its remake. Many users like @Leonardos5 and @el_triforce, were directly begging, “Please remake AC1.” @el_triforce even mentioned wanting it specifically on the Nintendo Switch. Speaking of Switch, the potential “Switch 2” was on players’ minds, and @oLsitoGaming was wondering is there “any chances to bring all the assassins creed games to nintendo switch 2?” It’s pretty obvious that the community is thinking about playing these classics everywhere and is wanting to have them accessible.

And on top of that, there are the tech issues from the past. A good number of the replies were pretty much requesting the older games to get some kind of Quality of Life patches. @sinan_sahinn purposefully asked, “Your fans are still waiting for a 60fps patch for AC Unity. Perhaps you’d like to give us a nice gift?” Another user, @joelcadieu, just remarked, “Some 60fps patches would be nice to celebrate with.” It is a reminder that for many, the past games’ celebration includes wanting the games to be better on modern hardware. Like, c’mon Ubisoft, just give us a little something.

Among all the demands there were, of course, real celebrations and pleasant personal stories. That’s the point of it, isn’t it? @thargett told an amazing story about his experience: he finished AC3 on December 21, 2012—the day when the Mayan apocalypse was predicted in the game’s lore. “Preventing the Mayan apocalypse on the day that it was supposed to happen,” he wrote. Isn’t that cool? Another player, @music4jbeaman, is just starting the journey: “I just finished 1 and started 2 a few days ago. Can’t wait to experience the rest of the series.” That’s the magic AC Day is supposed to be about, that new players are discovering these worlds.

But wait, what was I saying? Oh right, the other big topic—Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The next game set in Japan was mentioned a lot, but not always in a way that Ubisoft might want. While some, like @icyabys, joked “Can I get AC Shadows on this Blessed day? Pretty please?”, others were more… direct. @victorm95673613 called it a “woke ass game,” and @Jack_Crow25 asked, “So, is this a good time to talk about Shadows?” It appears that for a section of the player base, the hype for Shadows is mixed up with exhaustion or skepticism, especially with other projects like the Black Flag remake asking for attention. And let’s not forget the enigmatic mobile game, Assassin’s Creed Jade.
