So Respawn launched Wild Iron Event in Apex right? And with that, Fuse-themed Flatline skin is out that looks so amazing with Rampart Care Packages in Wildcard mode. In theory, this sounds pretty neat, but the players have… not been happy. Not at all.
The official PlayApex Tweet announcing the event encouraged players to turn up the heat on their enemies with the new content. But the replies? Oh dear, they are some messy combinations of frustrations, bugs reports, and plain old anger. The floodgates seem to have opened, releasing all complaints.
Starting with @kamikamiJP0721, who’s just mad about the event timing. They’re asking why they can no longer buy a bat (probably meaning the Heirloom, or some cosmetic) and are also frustrated that the event has been postponed multiple times. “The event was supposed to end last week. Why are they postponing it over and over? Damn it.” Then they just say, “Liar.” That’s a whole level of hostility.
Then there’s @Red24014 calling out the fact that the Grand Slam event is still ongoing and shouldn’t be, thereby inconveniencing all players who’ve been waiting to get their hands on some items with red shards. Like they haven’t lost their damn minds over events already.
Technical issues are just a bigger mess, though! @Goldendonkey2 has been trying to get on for hours because their anti-cheat says it isn’t running. @FlightOfSteel is complaining about a crashing Steam bug. @Wyclefhectic is still experiencing packet loss making ranked unplayable. And @RubixMan24_ asks, “Is anyone STILL getting the fucking squares?” Sounds like some sort of graphic glitch, maybe one that’s fairly well-known and has been lingering forever.
Matchmaking breakdowns. @_FRESHPRINTZ_ said tonight “quite literally in my top 3 for worst for matchmaking experiences. Zero balance.” They are also questioning in E-District, asking why it’s daytime again amidst all the neon (that shouldn’t exist).
Then comes the whole mess of controversy around Wildcard mode itself. @Robbie_maddness reckons it “feels weird now,” while @Rahulj8 wants them to change the map from Kings Canyon and up the player count to 60. Perhaps the biggest volume of complaint may come from the DUOS changes. @ST3PKR1S keeps begging for “revert the changes! Give us back the whole map and a full server. I love this game I never bitch but this is wild and makes no sense!” While @xxvfl_borussiax simply says, “WTF is this duo now? Bullshit.”
Now about cosmetic issues. @lageren1 and @VoidNuzzle are having a dialogue about some skins not having full effects and how crazy it is to be selling stuff at a high price tag without tracer effects. @lulkickz wonders why they can’t craft the bat in the mythic tab.
At such greater heights, the negativity pile has grown, making @ChyroZero declare, “Worst garbage ass season ever. At this point @Respawn just go bankrupt and end the company please. This game needs to dead already.” That… is extreme, but it sort of gives away how frustrated a few of the players are getting.
Then the controller players started having problems—@jb33zi explaining how after the update, their PS4 controller’s touchscreen now brings up the chat box instead of holstering weapons; they’ve been using it without any issues for many seasons.
Amidst all this turmoil, there are a few rays of sunshine. @WhoseBacon said they “like how it sounds too,” probably meaning the new Flatline skin. And @wildprotons joked about “Big Sister” being jealous. But this is pretty much a rarity.
What’s funny is @Gro3_ eating this up: “This event’s gonna spark some wild convos. Hopefully Gro3 Alerts keeps me on top of ’em before everyone else gets there.” At least one person is seeing a silver lining in all this mess.
So yeah, Wild Iron Event has come with its Fuse-themed Flatline and Rampart Care Packages, but the response from the players has been downright negative. With technical issues, event timing mentions-ing problems, mode changes nobody asked for and cosmetics all broken beyond repair, this looks like an uphill battle for Respawn to redeem itself back into the hearts of players. The new content looks cool if it came with a functioning game, but on the other hand, if changes are nothing but a hassle for the community, then what are we really doing? Apex Legends has had rough patches before, but this eyesore of player frustration from several fronts of the game is very worrying. Here’s wishing that they listen to all this talk and start working on fixing this really soon; in fact, this might just drive away a majority of the community at present.
