A so-called major update from Respawn Entertainment has been rumbling around in every corner of the Apex Legends community as next week, some influencers will be streaming Showdown early and giving viewers a glimpse of what the new Season will entail. Reactions so far can be described with a rather mixed tone.

There is definitely some hype going on. @Faint_Echoes and @TonyHimself are counting the seconds, while Echoes remarks something about how everybody will be playtesting early season with him. @LoopyLoates dropped a whole bunch of heart emojis in celebration of the early access. But a few felt quite disappointed. @Ignition1489 bit back with a sarcastic, “what’s the point of them streaming it if this is all we’re going to see?” with an attached meme showing a blurry screen that could barely be discerned. Ouch.

Next came the usual rant about balance issues. @RaginKatfish cocked an eyebrow at Bangalore, claiming she had been “way busted,” while @SkyFondu demanded a nerf before the season even started. And of course, the endless quest for improved footsteps: @MorePollsOnX put it succinctly, “I can hear my teammates 30m away but can’t hear a full squad run up behind me.” Respawn. Fix. The. Audio.

But speaking about holding that train lane, it is the real discorduation, as is from Fuse mains. @Jaidenatoor11, rising as an OG Fuse main, went into a mini-rant about how Fuse’s ultimate, Motherlode, is “the weakest in the game.” @LionClaww countered by saying Fuse is “OP in the right hands,” but Jaiden was not having any of it, claiming that most legends can just hop out of it or teleport away. Meanwhile, meme lords @EatRatLove, @fusehound and @GordonDeezNuts took the conversation a few notches higher by joking that Fuse is “pregnant with triplets thanks to Bloodhound.” Yeah, never a dull moment, the Apex community.

Oh, and of course, there was @Ale_SCC dropping the obligatory “new anti-cheat when?” As if.

The contents of the series? Well, that’s all under wraps for now, but even if bad luck would have it that it’s nothing much, the mere fact that Respawn is allowing creators to get an early stream means it’s something heavy. Whether it’s new legends, map tweaks, or (soulfully) audio fixes, the player community is ready for every frame to be analyzed in detail. With creators such as @kyfolam1 going even further with cosplay streams throughout the entire event, there’s nothing that can stop this hype train any time soon.

So get those calendars marked, snacking dusted off, and get ready to spam “W Apex” in chat because next week is going to be taken over by the Apex Legends Showdown on Twitch. Just please… Remember to mute those teammate footsteps.
