Respawn Entertainment released a new batch of Apex Legends updates for the delight of all, but the audience is… what I can only describe as unwilling to hold back in expressing their opinions. According to the patch notes, the changes to Ash, Alter, and Ballistic seemed to be major ones; some people call them “Questionable,” and others say “Downright broken.”

Let’s get to the real things that have changed. Ash, our simulacrum assassin, has been fined so that, in the general setup, she’s been buffed while simultaneously added into the Skirmisher class, meaning she will now enjoy all those juicy Skirmisher perks. Ballistic, our gunner, got changes that, well, make him just a bit more bearable (among players still eyeing that Devotion interaction suspiciously). Alter, on the other hand, seems dead set on making life painful for those solo queue players.

But this is where things get interesting. And, apparently, the backlash has become a bit scattered. Maje went on record as saying Revenant nerfs were “the dumbest thing ever,” arguing that “A big hitbox legend got nerf’d to oblivion, whereas Ash who by the way is a high pick rate just got stronger.” Then Demigod_AU went on talking about the dash still being a problem, labeling it a “Get out of jail free card” that badly needs to be given attention.

Now we get to the Ballistic debate. Several voices have been mentioning the problem of putting him in the center of a third weapon carry (the Devotion, especially). One commenter said, “Buff means nerf? You guys just show us the means of insufficient again,” which… stings.

Then we have the Alter complaints, especially from the solo queues. One said that the changes are a “big L” for the randoms trying to survive the chaos. Others are still hanging for fixes for Caustic and Seer, who have been ignored for way too long.

Random Wattson comment: “Wattson got thick!!!!” As always, that just really never gets old for the Apex community.

A positive?: Some players agree Respawn listens; sometimes. Grok said that while cheating and smurfing still plague the game, the studio has been taking community cues in the past. So undoubtedly, whether these latest changes hit home or completely miss, Apex Legends players will have learned to mark and express their opinions on any occasion.

What do we do now? More chaos. More hot takes. Then maybe, this time, another patch to slay the fallout. Until then, good luck out there, Legends. You’ll need it.
