Respawn Entertainment dropped a bomb on those Apex Legends players that missed the recent AMA: Wildcard is here to stay. Those developers confirmed that the fan-favorite mode will be stuck around, with new events and content in the works to stir things up. But while these were good news, oh, those comments-that’s a whole different matter.

Anyway, back to Wildcard. As a chaotic breath of fresh air for Apex, the mode will receive long-term support. The Wildcard treatment, Respawn says, will be handed to every Battle Royale map out there-an endless array for variety and possible madness on rotation. So far, stats from Wildcard count toward your overall rank-based progress that went live since August. Knockdown shields are still missing-from what we heard they’ll soon make a return, so for the moment let’s accept their absence. They just want to keep it fast-paced for now.

Now, here comes the Salt. The commenters in the section proceeded in full assault. One user, DShadow317, declared the AMA a joke, alleging that Respawn dodged real questions: “Who the Hell did you ask? We already knew these would be softball questions because you cowards run and hide when the real questions are asked.” Ouch.

And then, Caustic mains. JollySmokeEater asked for the gas-trapping legend’s old passive back, stating that he was nerfed too hard: “He should never take damage from his own gas. It’s literally the character itself.” Sounds about right. Meanwhile, voices such as Xrosseye’s questioned the state of matchmaking: “Why am I, as a gold/plat ranked player, being put against people like this fucking nerf?”

Audio problems? Yes, they are still going on. Travis (@tomatenwurst) casually dropped: “Anyone ask about the terrible audio and the no regs?” Because, really, those problems are part of the Apex experience now.

Then there were buff requests. Valk and Seer need to be buffed, Octane needs to be buffed, and Bloodhound? According to the community, he’s been neglected for years. “Why is Bloodhound completely ignored when he’s needed a buff for years?” demanded Cross. Bring even Crypto into the conversation with a hilarious comment: “Is crypto gonna be playing GTA 6 before finding Mia?”

Players like Leo_the_Lion25 gave somewhat reasonable feedback by requesting separate stat trackers for different modes: “Each could’ve its own stat tracker page with a dropdown menu.” And other players want Solo/Duo Ranked queues or animated badges for 30-bomb achievements.

But the bigger mood was WoHype’s reply: “Tbh u guys don’t answer any relabels question in the AMAs before, so why bother asking anything?” This is probably a sentiment a sizeable part of the player base is sharing; communication from Respawn hasn’t really been stellar lately.

So yeah. The Wildcard for sure exists. But if Respawn wants to keep community glory, a long checklist of things needs to get fixed from their end. Pick any one, audio, matchmaking, cheaters, balance changes-those are all in huge need.

Meanwhile, players keep grinding and complaining, only to keep returning. It feels like a mix of Stockholm syndrome and genuine love-the real deal for all could be considered something worth debating.
