Deploying the drop was an unexpected turn of events, with Xbox having announced free drops for kids’ perks in Call of Duty and Black Ops 6. These will be available to all who have Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Basically, the tweet from the official account just set the whole community on fire, but some didn’t really take it gracefully.
So what is this bundle? Well, details are scarce at the moment, but if we are going by all reckonings, it should be nothing but the regular cosmetic stuff-operator skins, weapon blueprints, maybe some XP boosts. Stuff that perks up your loadout without asking from you any product. But that’s where some of the community members started getting wary. Like why start dropping perks for a free-to-play game when Game Pass was always about full titles?
And their replies were… spicy! One guy said it was “a load of crap”; another mocked, saying they’d “rather play Fortnite.” Ouch. Then there’s the present chorus demanding that older COD titles be brought over to Game Pass instead. “Bring us the missing Call of Duty titles,” one user pleaded, another anthem for what many fans have been begging for from quite a while.
So, Black Ops 6… Are these perks already allocated for a game that is nowhere near release? Hmmm… that is rather much dated. Some were skeptical. CoreyHikari quipped, “Surely you’d get Black Ops 2 in Gamepass before Black Ops 7.” And that is fair. Why hype a sequel when the greats are still missing?
The confusion about where to claim it from was all over now. One player, WinterSoldier, said he could not find the bundle in the Game Pass perks or store, while others were just over it. “No thanks, game is sht,” said SteveSeagull (harsh but honest).
But hey, not every comment was negative! Some people were quite hyped. LORDVAT0 simply said: “There it is.” Short and sweet. And then there’s the gang begging for a similar treat—like those on PC still waiting for Call of Duty: WWII to make a comeback on Game Pass after the RCE-inhibiting drama. “FIX THE RCE ISSUE,” bellowed a frustrated gamer.
So, what comes down? Freebies are alright and cool, but the delivery was a little meh. Dropping bundles for FPS heavyweights of Warzone and Black Ops 6 is a smart way to keep people entertained, but it sorely misses the old COD titles on Game Pass. And let’s be real: Some of these “perks” are slick ads disguised in front of a bunch of people who are already playing (or actively avoiding the game).
It’s a serious mixed bag, really: Some gamers will take the freebies and keep on; some others will keep asking for more; but that much is for sure: Xbox sure knows how to make people talk, often for all the wrong reasons.
Well, if you’re a COD nut with a Game Pass subscription, it’s time to hit the perks tab. Hopefully, you might get lucky! Or maybe you’ll shrug it off and keep grinding somewhere else. Either way, free entertainment.
