Hungry for some speculation? Well, the Call of Duty community is roasting up some interesting chatter. Sometimes it actually turns out to be true, sometimes it’s just absurd, but it’s always great to discuss. For some juicy gossip: this Warzone map could end up being Resurgence with the launch of Black Ops 7, Season 1. Black Ops 7? That means we are that much into the future,” really, where did the time go?
The rumor obtained from the famous spoiler source TheGhostofHope is that the map would be a larger version of Liberty Falls. If you’re trying to rack your brain for the name Liberty Falls in whatever title and nothing is coming to your mind, do not worry; you’re not alone. It has been present in several COD titles but has hardly ever been a big location, at least until now.
For those who don’t really know what Resurgence mode entails, it is the fastest version of Warzone with the respawn feature that gained massive popularity upon the release of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep. So basically your timers for money to buy yourself back, hoping your teammates will help you win in gulag are out of the picture. All you need to do is to wait a bit after dying, based on a short timer, to respawn, as long as some of your teammates remain alive. That makes for chaos.
Player reaction has been, well, you know…spanning from one extreme to the other; just as many that are genuinely excited at the prospect. One of the community players, Christopher Rackley, said that “Oh my gosh—Liberty Falls Resurgence is EXACTLY what would bring me back to this game. Dang it!!!” That’s what I feel as well. Resurgence modes have been there keeping Warzone afloat for quite some time, so more content on that front actually seems logical.
On the other end of the spectrum, you hear people calling it lazy development, with much disdain: “a rehashed map? wow….” or “lol off to a banger start, already reusing assets right outta the gate.” And you know what? They’re, not-a-100% wrong. COD has been recycling content like crazy lately, and although it’s nice to see familiar locations get some new life, it really should be investing in making something on its own soon.
And then comes the argument about Resurgence itself. A few players are just unable to get over it, and then others… not so much. User Ryan basically said, “Let resurgence die. Horrible game mode.” I reckon that’s a strong-take. And then there’s other people arguing “Rebirth is the best map to ever be created! Over Verdansk too!” So, I guess, I’ll leave it all to individual preference.
This, by the way, is really weird timing because we’re hearing about Black Ops 7 when we haven’t really even gotten Black Ops 6. The COD cycle is spinning faster and faster. One user joked, “Black ops 7 season 1 I’m gone so ✌️ 😂,” and honestly, that’s the mood. The yearly release is just exhausting for everyone, players and developers alike.
Of course, this has created confusion for what it means for some of the other rumored maps. “So wait…. is Avalon not gonna be the new BR MAP?” is terminable on its own. We’ve heard a pretty good amount about this Avalon map for quite some time now, and if Liberty Falls is happening instead, where does Avalon go? Are they just giving up on proper big battle royale maps? That would be a really big strategic shift.
In contrast, the zombie Easter egg hunters are getting more hyped: “If Raven and High both add zombies Easter eggs to warzone for rewards it might bring more players.” That was a comment that actually made a lot of sense. The zombie scene is huge in COD, and channeling that energy into Warzone may just breathe some fresh life into the game.
Putting things into real perspective, though: The biggest problem with Warzone is not the maps themselves. It’s the cheaters who as of yet have met no real solution. A player plainly stated, “how about we focus on getting more cheaters banned across all games? maybe glitches fixed?” And yeah, he’s right. Nifty to have new maps and all, but when your go-to experience is teetering on a glocker’s keyboard, what’s even the point?
Nostalgia for older maps crept in: “How about bringing back vondel!?” And people started asking about Verdansk. It appears that no matter what new stuff they bring in, there’ll be cries for the old stuff. You can never please everybody in the COD universe.
The extended version is an interesting topic unto itself. Liberty Falls never really was a proper big location in previous titles, so making it a huge Resurgence map is exciting indeed. It’s giving them a foot through Red Tape while beginning to create something from the ground. On the flip side, some players are just calling it “repurposed garbage,” so… yeah.
Community division on Resurgence itself is absolutely wild. Some players are begging for another round of Resurgence content while others are like “More resurgence maps 😴 WHAT IS THE POINT WHEN EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY REBIRTH ONLY,” which is kind of contradictory but also makes sense? The player base is split between those who love the fast-paced action and those who prefer the traditional battle royale experience.
All of that is just rumors, though. But there’s one thing we’ve learned from the past leaks in COD: Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. TheGhostofHope is quite accurate with these things; hence, it’s pretty fair to suggest that this Liberty Falls Resurgence map is definitely a thing.
Whether it’s going to be any good or not? That’s a different ball game. The COD Community…yeah, very hard to please. And with Battlefield potentially making a comeback in style, Activision needs to really step to the plank. New maps would be nice, but they’ve got to fix serious issues as well: cheating, server stability, weapon balancing, etc.
So keep your ears peeled for any information that’ll drop when the actual release window for Black Ops 7 comes about. Meanwhile, make sure you watch funny Warzone content because it may get replaced pretty soon. Or just don’t. I’m not your dad.
That would be all for now. Liberty Falls Resurgence might just be underway, and players are divided, as always, while the COD rumor mill keeps rotating. Just another typical Tuesday for the gaming industry.
