Virtus Pro’s Rask Clutches A Rare Ace In Rainbow Six EU August Major, But G2 Still Advance To The Finals

In first-person shooter games like Rainbow Six Siege and CS:GO, a single-player should not be able to take down a team of four or five. In simple math, four players moving together as a unit can take down a solitary player. Moreover, in professional leagues, “trade” can be made to make sure the lonesome has no chance of clutching the round all by himself.

Virtus Pro’s Alan “Rask” Ali has a different equation in mind when given the opportunity to 1v4 G2 Esports, though. In his mind, paired with innate game sense and timing, a clutch round by his lonesome is possible. And that’s exactly what the pro R6 player performed who now have an ace under his belt televised live during a major tournament.

Finding all his teammates dead and waiting for the next round, Rask first killed G2’s Ben “CTZN” McMillan, then Juhani “Kantoraketti” Toivonen, who tried to make the trade kill through the Bakery door. His patience was tempted as he waits and sees through a freezer wall if more players are coming his way. With his impeccable timing, Rask caught Aleksi “UUNO” Työppönen unarmed as the G2 player is trying to set up a drone.

In a difficult situation to make a decision, Niclas “Pengu” Mouritzen was thorn between the round timer and needing to plant the defuser or to find and kill VP’s last player. Though Rask’s ace clutch will go down in history books as one of the game’s best nerve-wracking aces, this ultimately won’t be enough to win the entire series.

Albeit the VP already lose game one to G2 Esports with a 7-4 score, they were ahead 2-1 in game two on Kafe Dostoyevsky. They would lose the second game, as well, 7-5 and dropping to the lower bracket for the EU mini-Major series this month. Rask and the rest of the team faced BDS Esport next, where they also lost 0-2.

Players of VP have taken it their Twitter accounts to apologize for the team’s poor performance during the playoffs and thank all their fans for this season. Pavel “Amision” Chebatkov tweets, “Sorry, guys. Horrible performance from us. We lose to @BDS_esport on Oregon and Consulate, and we place 3rd in the mini-major. Thank you to everyone for the support, soon we will come back stronger. We love you.” Fans, in return, have showed more support saying that the team performed better than expected finishing third this competition.

G2 Esports and BDS Esport will battle each other for the Finals on August 23.
