In just under two months from now, the long-awaited next installment of the Borderlands series will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as Borderlands 3 is set to be released on September 13. To help promote the upcoming release, Gearbox is encouraging players to sign up for their Vault Insider Program.

It appears that the main idea behind the Vault Insider Program is to help spread the word about Borderlands 3, as the program rewards players for getting their friends to sign up. If you can effectively spread the word about the upcoming game, then you’ll be rewarded with points that can be spent towards in-game items.

On top of being rewarded for spreading the word about Borderlands 3, the game’s Vault Insider Program will also give players a welcome pack, which contains a high rarity grenade and shield mods, along with a VIP weapon trinket. All of the aforementioned items in the welcome pack will unlock when you start playing the series’ third installment.

Also, the Vault Insider Program will help players earn points towards things like new character skins and new guns. As for how to earn points aside from helping promote the game, well, according to the website for the program, players will earn these points by “doing fun stuff that you were probably gonna do anyway.”

It’s worth noting that the Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program is completely free to sign up for, so there’s no downside to doing so if you’re planning on buying the game upon release.

As for new information regarding Borderlands 3, well, Gearbox did recently release a brand new trailer for the game called “So Happy Together.” You can check it out in the video below.

It was recently reported that Borderlands 3 will be released without cross-play, but Gearbox has said that they’re committed to making cross-play a reality in a future game update. Of course, the developer didn’t give an official timetable as to when they’re going to add the function.

If you’re in the mood for new Borderlands content before the release of its third installment, then there’s a BL2 DLC called Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary that’s available for download on the PlayStation Store and Xbox One Marketplace. The expansion has been described as something that will help set the table for the next Borderlands game, and it features brand new characters, bosses, guns, and locations, most of which will probably be in the series’ third game.
