Riot Games provided the VALORANT community with their SplashX Collection, touted by the developers as the ultimate chilling while fragging experience, but the trickle of cash draining out of players’ pockets says different. A tweet from the official VALORANT account teased the collection by saying something along the lines, “the hot weather doesn’t stand a chance, and neither do your enemies.” The replies ranged from excited, frustrated, to downright roasting extravaganzas.
First off, the collection. SplashX screams of summer, sundrops colors, water-related designs, and probably skins that give you a feeling that you’re soaking your enemies with a crazy pro-soaker, instead of murdering them with a Vandal. But it’s the price they seem to be side-eyeing at. Dom’s reply called them “straight ass” for charging $67 for what amounts to “two skins and ugly piss balloon gloves.” Ouch. Betsy wasn’t holding back either: “$70 for bullshit.” VelocitiYRaptor then hit the ultimate gamer’s dilemma, “3 skins or battlefield… hmm.” Yeah, and it ain’t selling quite well.
And it’s not only the price; some players ask why skins like these even exist if they rarely add anything. IceKnightK pointed out the lack of unique sounds or animations, “no incentive to buy them if there’s no sound or animations.” Meanwhile, DarkKoops tried to defend that they do have a reload animation, but Kev shot him down with the blunt “No they don’t.” This is hilarious, to be honest.
All these are out in the open with some good ol’ VALORANT drama bubbling under the surface. Edrinus from Turkey started ranting on the server; “you ruined a working game. We are constantly experiencing problems.” Fatman from Australia started ranting about how VALORANT never came to his console, so he had to create a US-listed PSN just to download the game, but he couldn’t really buy anything. Deviance33 responded, “serveur French pleas wtf guys.” Struggle, I tell ya.
But hey, it’s not all bad. People are excited about the skins. “Wait, I like this,” replied Dylan, while Pseudo jokes about his credit card applying again (we all know that). Marlin then enters with a clip of the skins; someone clearly likes that.
In the end, it just tells you that Riot Games has a really tough crowd to please. The SplashX Collections might look fresh, putting people off with its pricing, lack of unique features, server issues, and some people complain that colored skins aren’t enough. Oh, and don’t forget that guy begging for €5 to buy the Vandal- Samy, we feel you, man.
So yeah, we’ve got the SplashX Collection, but the world is still debating if it’s worth cash or credits. One thing for sure, VALORANT players will never keep quiet about their opinions, and maybe Riot should learn a thing or two about it before the next drop.
