A stealth nerf given to Chamber in this patch caused a ruckus within the community. Patch 11.02 quietly dispensed with the range limitation for Chamber’s Trademark ability, so now the French “weapons specialist” can just plonk down his tripwires anywhere on the map without worrying about the distance. And the devs never even mentioned this in the official patch notes—omentum!
Chamber mains, obviously, now have flexibility in his gameplay, the agency they can wield on him being far less limited, making him a stronger pick for the Sentinel role. Gone are the days of “just a little out of range” to plant a tripwire. It allows him to lock down sites so much, which immensely pleases the players that have cherished such a high-skill-ceiling playstyle.
The more upset voices of course. The players have started calling it a meta change already, one even claiming, “FFS revert it back again chamber meta is so ass.” Some, in return, are greeted with, “Finally been asking for this for so long.”
This buff stirred up Killjoy’s range limitation debates. “Explain then why Killjoy has a range restriction. You guys explicitly stated that Cypher is the only one that should have global presence with trips,” said one frustrated player. Oof. That is, in fact, a good point-if Chamber is allowed unlimited range, why can’t Killjoy?
Then, of course, it’s the ongoing discussion about whether Chamber has a place in the modern meta composition. “Chamber is not even fitting in the current meta. It’s just a gimmick pick sometimes for pure aimers,” another said. But even that should change with this buff. Eliminating the range restriction to lock down areas could very well bring him to life in competitive play.
Speak of memes! “bro is becoming an actual senti now,” one player said, while another exclaimed, “We are so back!” Classic Valorant community-divided but never boring.
What’s next? Is Chamber going to pick up steam on the ranked circuit? Will Killjoy be next in line to receive one of these buffs? Time will tell. But, one thing for sure, Riot never shies away from a bit of controversy-even if the whole thing sneaks past them with no mention in the patch notes.
For now, Chamber mains shall revel in this newfound freedom while the rest brace for the chaos bonanza that the tripwire may very well bring. Good luck, agents-you all are gonna need it.
