When game developers develop their games, there is a whole host of factors that go into what they want and what they do not want to be put into those games. One of those things is the fact that people just need to get out there and do it, if you know what we mean, and let the games run wild. One of those things, however, that stands in the way of good gaming is the idea that we need to have certain controls on how much violence and gore, etc. etc., that we put into each game. That’s why Valorant has T for Teen rating. It allows a spurt of blood when someone gets shot.
This is a bit absurd when you think about it. Why should it get a T for Teen rating anyway? People are literally being shot. That shouldn’t mean much of anything. If they get shot, it should be obvious what is happening, but apparently, to all of these guys at least, the person getting shot isn’t T for Teen material unless there is a detectable bit of red emanating from a hole in the body. That’s absolute insanity and we all know it is. But let’s move on anyway. As it turns out, the developers want all of their streamed competitions to have blood turned off.
Why is this exactly? Well, it is for the same exact reasons that the T for Teen rating applies.
When it comes down to it, this is all a simple calculus. The developers who made this game we all know as Valorant were totally okay with making a game that got itself a T for a Teen rating because they knew it would sell a bit. But going into that kind of rating territory for their live streams? That’s a big no, Jack.
Let’s all take a moment to think about the power of the video gaming industry for just a moment. There is a lot of things going on here. Some of them are big, big money and others are just small fry dollar bills. When you go out into the world and you start to think about where you want to cast your pull to reel in that sweet, sweet cash, well, then you’re going to have to make some big boy decisions.
