So far, Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be a really incredible game. Its main setting that you’ll get to explore — Night City — looks beautiful and massive. The character augment system looks so in-depth. Even the characters you’ll be interacting with look pretty fleshed out and intriguing. That’s a huge part of this game’s appeal: Navigating the city and interacting with the various inhabitants.

We know there are multiple districts that you’ll get to move through, which have a lot of variety. For example, there are rich districts and then ones much less fortunate. It only makes sense that the latter district will have gangs that you’ll have the pleasure of bumping into from time to time. That’s exactly right according to CD Projekt Red, and we luckily got some more information about some of the gangs that have their claws sunk into the shady underworld.

These details came from an official live stream that showed off a lot of the combat. The two gangs highlighted in the stream were the Voodoo Boys and the Animals. Judging by their names, they already sound cool. First, let’s take a deeper look at the Voodoo Boys. They’re comprised of Haitians, who were forced to re-locate from Haiti to Night City after environmental issues.

Speaking on this gang was Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk 2077. According to his accounts, he wanted to make the Voodoo Boys struggle a bit with adopting a new culture. Not only would this make the gang sort of stick out like a sore thumb, but it would make you sympathetic for the drastic changes they’ve had to endure.

Now let’s take a look at the Animals. They’re predominantly focused on acquiring more power through strength. Pondsmith referred to them as the tiger in the jungle, who wants to display its dominance over every other creature through brutal force. These characteristics sound fitting for a gang called the Animals. They have a narrow focus and won’t stop until they’ve left their mark on Night City.

Thus far, both these gangs have a good bit of variety. Pondsmith seemed to know exactly what direction he wanted to take both in. It’s clear he’s giving each unique attributes that should make your character’s time in Night City that much more engaging. Coming across each will surely make you on edge, especially when you’re in their territories.
